Ohhh I didn't know she bred. I just PM'd her to ask her what vet she would recommend for spaying Tashi (I want someone familiar with small dog surgeries)

I was thinking I'd just stick around and learn who's-who and go from there. I'm not in a big rush

I unfortunately have to second Concretegurl's advice. Just because a breeder is from YT doesn't make them great. I'm telling you from experience. As far as vets go, if you don't mind driving, I highly recommend Kaji's new vet. They are amazing, and Kaji always goes in happy, and comes out happy too. They're in Hermosa Beach, which I know is a crazy drive, but they're just so good and nice to my freakazoid, that I go all the way out there to see them.

Oh no, I don't breed. I rescue and foster. However, I am not against breeders who are ethical and are in the YTCA, as well as a lot other criteria. I will agree with concrete and dvlsh, don't trust all breeders who are on YT, anyone can make a YT account. There are a FEW of them who show and are reputable, but a lot are here just to sell dogs. Many have been longtime members who don't have a lot of posts, and mostly PM people behind the scenes when they have pups to sell.

There are also off standard (color mostly, but some even do "teacups" not well received here anymore thankfully) breeders on here as well, and that is a whole nother can of worms. Just make sure you do your research and choose your breeder first before you choose your pup.

I remembered having posted this thread eons ago, and wanted to express my appreciation to you all. Tashi has been spayed for a while now and never had a litter. I wanted update to thank everyone for speaking rationally to me and helping me undersrand how ridiculous I was being. I saw someone on facebook today looking for a stud for her rescued frenchie, and after posting what a bad idea it was, I reflected on this post and how grateful I am that you talked sense into me.

Tashi is still my only dog, but she loves my boyfriend's bully and they're bffs.

I feel sad for the rescued frenchie though. How is it she was "rescued" without being spayed first? Sounds like that organization didn't do their research on who took their dog. Or was it a private party?

I have no idea. I joined a few frenchie groups to learn about the breed, because I thought they were really cute and I was considering maybe getting one a long time in the future, figured it wouldn't hurt to see the pictures on my feed and read peoples' anecdotal stories. The breeders on most groups I joined seemed like BYB. I just don't want to be a part of those groups, as positive discourse isn't enforced, or even encouraged. Keeping it strictly to one group that's for pet owners and they seem like logical people.

A few people, myself included, tried to discourage her, but she posted insisting that she was an experienced English Bulldog breeder and she knew what she was doing. Her mind didn't seem changeable in the least, and she was just looking for a stud.
