| What???? Get Ziggy neutered ASAP and leave the breeding to breeders that are experiences. If you are interested in bettering the breed my suggestion would be to find a mentor by visiting dog shows in your area.

| I would not want my boys to be studs because life with a stud dog is much more challenging. Marking is enough to turn me off to the idea. Then there is the pre-breeding testing ($$$) and all of the risks of actually breeding. I prefer to enjoy my boys as pets (besides, I was contractually obligated to neuter my boys because they are pet quality, despite how wonderful I think they are )

| There is a lot involved. Yes, the males will mark everything in your home, so you have to put a bellyband on him to wear now all the time or wash everything everyday, floors, sofa, pillows, bedskirt, baseboards, furniture with corners, etc.... And you cannot just let them breed by themselves. Oh no! The male can get really hurt. It is messy and grose! And sometimes it take so long to hold - all you can do is sit there and hold them till they are done sometimes up to 50 minutes! Also you will need a towel on your lap. Now also be prepared to have money in the bank to pay the breeder when any of the pups are born with health issues. The stud owner is also 50% responsible and also later when the pup is sold to the new owners and they have health issues as older. Do you know the pedigree and health issues in his lines? You have had all the tests done on him, right?? Yes, there is a lot to it! More than you want to know. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | have your male done any shows? any ribbons or championships? my stud did not studded anyone until he champion, he was already 5 years old when he stud his first litter, same with my girl she had 5 blue ribbons under her belt, when she was bred for the first time she was 1.5 years old. Now to the pre breeding and health tests, you need to reasearch the breed and have breed specific tests done to make sure your pair is FREE of genetic illness. My son is a Vet Tech and I get a discount, and still I pay BIG $$$ for test, pre natal care and all the add ons you need for breeding. My stud used to mark, now not so much but I heard HORROR stories about males marking. Harry boy will mark if another intact male comes to my house, other than that is is my lover boy. IF your boy has all his championships and you can deal with a hormonal male, .. then you are on your way, other than that I will agree with the rest of the members in get him neuter and love him as a pet and save yourself a big headache.. |
