My vet did the stitches internally, which was great cause they didn't lick them and pull at them, and they dissolved on their own. An option depending on vet's preferred method. Good luck, and let us know when it's all over. |
Well everyone, I dropped her off at 7:30 this morning. She was NOT a happy camper, she cried as soon as they took her from me. Ughh, it was pitiful, I honestly didnt realize she had become so attached, but hey Im not complaining about that..lol..I plan to call after lunch to check on her, but they said I can pick her up late this afternoon. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. |
Keeping your little Foxy in my prayers.... |
Foxy is in my prayers today. |
Praying that all goes well with Foxy's spay and that she has a quick recovery. |
Praying for Foxy this morning. You are such a good mommy for your sweet little girl. |
Thanks everyone! My nerves are getting the best of me today, I keep watching the clock...at least I get to pick her up today and not tomorrow... |
Special thoughts for Foxy lady, and mama too |
I'm dying to know what happened! How did Monday's vet visit go? Hope all is well! |
Ok , another update. Shes out of surgery, she was pregnant . The vet tech said they were rather large to be as far along as she was. The vet tech said she probably wouldnt have been able to have them natural. I get to pick her up around 4 this afternoon. Im glad this is over with, but I cannot help but feel this guilty nagging feeling for those poor puppies. Gosh, am I happy Foxy is doing well, but I feel sooooo horrible. Is this normal? lol.. |
I think it is normal... I too feel sad about the pups. If they were that big though good chance this would have been life-threatening had she gone to term with them... I always mourne any loss of life... |
I know. But I feel totally horrible! But I just couldnt take the chance of losing her..gosh Im happy yet I feel totally depressed.... |
Ohhhhhh...Im so sorry...I was sure hoping that this was a false pregnancy! You did the right thing for your baby! Praying she heals fast and for you!! |
What really ticks me off, is how her previous owner could lie about such a thing! I mean considering the shape she was in when I got her and then saying there was NO way that Foxy was pregnant. Im just glad I didnt take her word for it and wait it out. And special thanks to Mardelin for helping me with my decision, and for the rest of you thanks for the kind words and support. I cannot wait to pick her up and give her lots of extra lovin... |
I'm sorry to hear that she was pregnant... How horrible of that lady to lie to you! I'm glad you got her spayed as soon as you can. Now she won't have to worry about having babies anymore! |
I am happy to hear that Foxy's spay went well. How disgusting of her previous owner to treat her like she did and to lie to you about the pregnancy. Foxy is one lucky lady to have you looking out for her. I like to think that when someone passes their spirit is recycled into another life. So the little puppies spirits are just being given a chance to be born under better circumstances. Please do not feel guilty for having done what is best. You did what was right, especially since the vet tech said they were rather large. It is good to know Foxy will have a wonderful life with you now getting all the love she deserves. Wishing you and Foxy all the best. |
I am sorry this turned out more complicated than you expected. Please know that you made the best decision though, and honestly you probably saved Foxy's life. You just bring that girl home and love her, and let the bond grow even stronger. |
Thanks guys! I am just a mess today, sneaking in tears here and there...Co-workers think Im bonkers..lol.. |

Thanks , I appreciate that. I guess it will just take time..I need to quit talking about my feelings though, and concentrate on her..Its just so much to take in. I was hoping for either a false pregnancy or I could have even dealt with her being fat..lol..But I guess we deal with the circumstances that are handed to us...ughh..doesnt make it any easier though. |

After reading all your posts, i came to one question: why would her owner try to find her a home if she was probably preggo and puppies would mean profit??? Of course we can only speculate on the answer, but by the words of the tech who was there during the surgery ... "rather large" puppies, it is of my understanding that the previous owner was suspicious of the mating with a larger male, dont you think??? I doubt it that a BYB or a PMill would pass on the opportunity to have a last litter before placing her if this is just the time she was in heat. They must have made the decision of finding her a new owner knowing some trouble was "brewing". This little girl is happy and she will never know of any of these horrific thoughts, all she will ever know is that now she is safe and she will finally enjoy a good , happy, healthy life !!! With my own breeder history i have a lot of experience with c-sections and emergencies, and it is worrisome for the most experienced and very expensive and all the work afterwords having to keep a closed eye on a momma and all you have been told is very real. Be at easy with your mind and heart please ... you made the ONLY best decision you could have based on your circumstances. Another consideration is that an emaciated female do not produce good healthy puppies and the nursing of them would probably be a too heavy burden on her, "Low calcium" is a strong possibility and under those circumstances you would not have been able to hand raise weak puppies by hand , bottle feeding every 2 hours around the clock, and even with such effort you can not be sure the puppies would have made. Again, I just decided to post to reassure you that you made the right decision, and life sometimes puts you in a position to decide some tough things, but i support your decision and with that being said i hope you just stop thinking on the remote possibilities of facts that you had no control and start dreaming of a future that it is in your hands: You can and already did , a big difference on the life of this innocent dog. Give her all your best and she will give you the best gratitude and love for the rest of her life !!! I love the wise words of the Bible and i am leaving one here for you : Proverbs 12:10 (New International Version) 10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. Have a blessed week ! XOXO |
I love the wise words of the Bible and i am leaving one here for you : Proverbs 12:10 (New International Version) 10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. Have a blessed week ! XOXO[/QUOTE] Thank you so very much! These are much needed words for me right now. I too, believe that she knew there were going to be issues with a possible c section or worse and thats why she got rid of her! People just totally disgust me! I have called this chick several times and she hasnt answered yet.. |
I'm sorry about the pups, but so thankful that Foxy is OK. You did what is best for her, please don't dwell on the negatives. Foxy is your priority. After reading some of the threads with horrible outcomes when these little dogs whelp, it was the right thing to do. Just give Foxy lots of extra hugs and cuddles and remember how lucky you are to have each other now. You will be in my thoughts and don't forget that you are a great yorkie momma!!!! |
I'm so sorry you had to go through this..... You did the right thing!! I know you can not wait to get her back in your arms!!!! Sending Good Vibes for a SPEEDY RECOVERY!!!! :D |
Another short update. Foxy is safe and sound at home. She was beyond thrilled to see me. She looks very tired and droopy. It actually didnt end up costing as much as I thought it would. It ran around 199..So thankful that this ordeal will soon be over, thanks everyone for all the good thoughts and prayers. Again, I cannot say it enough, I love you all. |
I know you feel guilty but you did what was best for your girl. Just keep telling yourself you could have lost her and she didn't need to go through having another litter in the shape she is in. |
