| Need help for a friend She rescued a female chihuahua (I know, not a yorkie, but I trust everyone here and it's another toy breed, so...) 2 months ago, and about 5 minutes before she rescued the TEN YEAR OLD, she must have mated with an intact male. My friend thought her new addition was having tummy troubles or constipated and after a home remedy or 2 took her to an emergency vet. While waiting to be seen, Mom actually delivered a placenta on my friend's lap! Some xrays determined 2 pups but that they would be delivered by c-section as she couldn't go naturally. (5 hours of labor with no progression) They have been delivered (2 healthy boys, Mom seems to be doing well too, thank goodness!) but now my friend who's never wanted to be a breeder suddenly is, with no supplies to take care of the pups with. I don't believe Mom has ever had a litter before either. I remember when I was more active reading a thread or 2 to the effect of HELP, my dog had puppies, what do I do?!? but I can't find them. Can anyone direct me to those type of threads or a site for this kind of situation? I'm thinking at this point Mom & babies will be home tomorrow, hopefully giving her some time to buy necessary items. Any help you can offer would be SO appreciated by both of us! I can't go in person to help as this in an online friend, she's in NM and I'm in Canada Thank you! |
