Ms Rose you were right on the money with your prediction!!!

We just got back from the vet & boy are we going to have a nice large family.. 5 puppies! I got pics of the xrays & I am trying to get them up, as soon as I do I will post them! Vet says I shouldnt have to worry about the C-section, unless its an emergency- but thinks everything should be ok... I think I feel better but I know momma is gonna to have a long labor poor baby!!! So the countdown begins... day 55, her mom gave birth at day 57, could she be close to her moms due date? Is that possible?

Rose

Hope all gos well as weve all heard Saras storie how a prefect pregnacy can turn to the wrost during the delivery, Pray everything gos well, You seem to be on the right path, as youve took her for her x-rays, u no how many there are, Make sure to feed momma puppy chow, Are you taking her temp daily? Now that you are close past day 55 you should watch her temp, That way youll have an even better idear of when. If you chart her temp youll get an idear of whats norm for your momma, Usaly when you get a spike then a drop (98.9) or lower youll have pups with in 8-24 hrs, Some do not see this spike but with my girl I new after charting for 7 days she ran around 99.7 on her 59th day she dropped to 98.7 and then on the 60th day dropped 98.3 and delivered on her 61st day, We also had a scare, On the 29th of Jan this year my Bella went into labor, She started at 12:30 pm, She jumped in her bed and started to push 30 mins later a pup was comming out, Breech, Half out she pushed and pushed I tried to help but it was stuck, Every time I tried to help get the baby out she would scream, Panic set in I new we were in trouble, Since you cant kill a dead puppy, We put Bella and her half breech pup still in her, in the car and rushed to the er being it was a Saturday our vet was closed, They took her right back, as I paced the waiting room floor, I heard a scream I new It was Bella, 45 mins later a nurse came and took me back to a room, Were the doc came in and told me they removed the stuck puppy witch was a little girl but she did not make it, The tears just feel, They then explained that many things needed to happen right now, and Id have to pay 1000.00 dollars to start these things, Out came the credit card, an hour later the news of another little girl had been born ALIVE mom did it all by her self and was doing good, We were told to go home and they would call us after xrays were they would know if she needed a c-section, or shots to help contractions, I went home 2 hours later I called to check and was told she had girl number 3 on her own and had an xray and no more pups were in side and she could come home, I went to pick her and her two little girls up weighing 3 oz each, Ive never cryed more in my life, Even thou Bella delived by her self, She needed no c-section,IVs,shots,nothing I still paid 800.00 for the 2 xrays, ER visit, and the help removing stuck puppy, They also checked her blood levels, Point being its not cheap, Had we of needed a c-setion it would of been even more, I also hope and tell those expecting to have a puppy savings fund.Just in case, As my whelp wasnt nearly as bad as Saras it does show you two different cases were things go wrong with Yorkies giving birth, And how a normale dog with a normale preg can turn bad in a blink of an eye.

BellaDonna.. I know you mean well but in every thread you post around this section is always negative, about the worse that can happen, TRUST me I know- but I dont need to be reminded every single day from you... I have been doing temps since Friday & shes around 99.4-99.6 everyday, pls dont come on here anymore & keep posting negative comments... instead of having me relax & just wait this out you make me into a nervous wreck & its going to make me more nervous when shes going into labor & Im alone (hubby will be more than likely working)... Thank you!!!

You need to remember that although you started this thread, because it's on a public board, it is for EVERYONE who reads it. Belladonna had an experience that NEEDS to be shared with posters and lurkers who are considering breeding. Breeding isn't a task that should be taken lightly without the help of a good, IN PERSON mentor. Breeding is risky, expensive and potentially deadly to the dam and pups. There are, unfortunately, more bad outcomes than good ones when the breeder is unprepared.

If her responses bother you, you can go to the User Control Panel in the upper left hand corner and edit your "ignore" list, that way you won't see them, but the information will still be there for others who are open to learning.

I dont have an issue with some of her posts... but every single time she posts somewhere she repeats her story & reminds us of the negative experience, I am a 1st time breeder but not careless in anyway, I have done everything right to take care of my little girl, I am also open to opinions & suggestions & advice but not constant reminders of negative experience, & I dont know where you hear that there are more bad experiences than good, when there are careless "breeders" that have perfect litters, its mother nature & she knows what shes doing, the good breeders are just adding extra help/ precaution to the situation... I dont need to be reminded that I am "punishing" my dog for my decision to breed her. Instead support at this time of what is about to happen to my dam & her litter. Thanks

This is exactly what I mean about inexperienced breeders and breeders who wait until they've already mated their dogs before starting their research. Yes, it's mother nature, but do you realize that you need to intervene for the safety of the pups? You need to be the one to open the sacks and cut the cords to prevent suffocation and the possible loss of a limb. You need to be aware of all the signs of possible complications, including a stuck pup, retained placentas, infections and eclampsia. These dogs go down hill fast. An experienced mentor who can be there with you while your dog is whelping is INVALUABLE. The internet only goes so far.

I didnt start research now.. i started 3 yrs ago when her father impregnated her mother who was my neighbor, if you dont know my story you shouldnt judge... anyhow i came on here for support, not to get bashed & be told all this negative experience, i helped my little girls mom give birth to 3 beautiful puppies & 3 weeks later had to bottle feed her bc momma didnt have more milk... thanks!!

Research should have told you to get a mentor before you bred.

Good luck to your little girl.
