I respect your decision to get what you want, because when I was looking for a dog I wanted what I wanted and nobody was going to change my mind. However I have a few things for you to consider. 1) While i have no problem with mix breed dogs, I do hate seeing people pay hundreds or thousands of dollars on a mix that is very popular in animal shelters. Please if you are set on a mix, check the local shelters. There are so many dogs in shelters that need homes and they are just as good, if not better, then one you can get from a breeder. I live 15 minutes from you and am always looking on petfinder so I know there are tons of yorkie/maltese/poodle/whathaveyou mixes in the shelters around here. If you want, I can even search petfinder for you and see what I can come up with. 2) I work with dogs on a daily basis. I had one client who purchased a bolognese/poodle mix (bolognoodle ) because she thought it would be good for her asthma since both parent breeds were "hypoallergenic". Well after a few months of cutting the hair shorter and shorter (owners way of thinking that would help the problem) she finally rehomed the puppy to another one of my clients. So even though both parent breeds are "hypoallergenic" that doesn't mean the puppies will be. 3) With a mix, you never know what you are going to get. You can get the worst of both breeds or you can get lucky and get the best. I've seen so many of these mixes and NONE of them look a like. i've had owners tell me that they saw a cute picture online of their mix and that's what made them want to purchase that particular mix breed. However when the dog matured it looked nothing like what they had originally wanted, though they still love their dog completely. 4) I groom one malti-poo that has such thin nappy hair, she looks bald even though she has a few inches of hair growth. More times then not, the mix breeds have worse hair to upkeep then the parent breeds. Poodles for example should be professionally groomed every 4-6 weeks, and Maltese and Yorkies every 6-8 weeks. With the mixes, their hair type is usually nothing like one of the parent breeds. The hair is, well, a mixed type of texture. I find that it mats more and is harder for owners to keep up with. Just some food for thought.
