I'm so worried, can a neutered dog for 3 years impregnate a female dog? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I'm dog sitting my cousin's dogs for a few weeks who have been neutered for three years. It just happened tonight when I found my female yorkie locked/tied with my cousin's dog in my living room. I freaked out and screamed and didn't know what to do, I didn't think a neutered dog would have any interest in my female. It just so happened that my Chanel got her period on July 2nd which was 3 days after I started dog sitting my cousin's dogs. I'm so worried now because I don't want her to get pregnant for Chanel just had two puppies on February 11th which was only 5 months ago and that's not all, my cousin's dog weights 10 pounds more than my dog Chanel...Please does anyone know if a neutered dog can impregnate a female dog, I'm just so scared!!!

If he is neutered, no, she will not become pregnant. Odd behavior for a neutered dog though

They removed the testicles, correct? If so, zero chance of pregnancy.

When a male is neutered the testicles are removed. Without testicles, the body does not produce sperm. No sperm, no conception.

I only said if they removed the testicles as somebody recently posted the vet gave the dog a vasectomy. I was quite sure this wasn't the case, however, never 100% sure anymore

I don't see any testicles on him, it realy is odd behavoir for the other dog Chester, who is also my cousin's dog, does not have any interest in my female, but Logan who is one that locked with Chanel seems to have more interest.

It is possible for a neutered male dog to tie with a female but there will be no puppies as there are no testicles therefore no sperm production.
They can tie however with a female, because their testosterone, the male hormone still can be there in a neutered dog at levels enough to instill interest in breeding as testosterone is not just produced in the testicles.

I just hope that what I just googled is not true for some people say that dogs could still get a female pregnant if he had the urge or lock/tie a female even after being neutered after so many years.

Testicles are required in sperm production. If those are removed there is no sperm. No sperm, no puppies.

Yes, you are fine. If he has no testicles, there is NO chance of pregnancy.

The same happened with Maxie and Mikki. Maxie was neutered for about a year and Mikki had her first heat when they tied. I was freaking out like you but also learned that a neutered male can still tie but there is no sperm and ergo no puppies... Mikki had a false pregnancy though...

To cheer you up: the whole thing happened of course when we had guests over and my husband held the two culprits on his lab so Maxie, who is twice the size of Mikki wouldn't hurt the little slut. I was frantically rubing ice cubes around Maxie's belly to get his swelling down and he just laid there in dh's arm with the dirtiest grin on his face... my guests (who luckily have bred dogs in the past) were hysterical as you can imagine...

That is a good point. Your girl could quite likely have a false pregnancy. Do not panic! She is not pregnant. Her teats will swell, I have had my girl express milk before, she will be lovey dovey and may find a stuffed toy to "baby".

It was daughter's boyfriends dog that had the vasectomy.. totally blowed my mind. It also makes me so mad. I wasn't able to go with them to the vet that day and I feel that didn't explain to them fully how this would affect the dog. To me it was useless. He will still have the disire and the behavior as before. Only thing I can see it will call for another surgery later on.

I am sure you have nothing to worry about if his testicles where removed.

I’ve been having such a bad day first last night and now this morning, sometimes when your too careful to prevent something from happening it just happens even more…after last night’s incident we decided to remove my male dog Polo from the room which I’ve been keeping him apart from Chanel and now put Chanel instead, well my four year old son must have gone in and out of the room and as he shut the door behind him Polo sneaked in the room unnoticed. When I went in this morning to change her water, what did I see…both my dogs locked/tied with each other, I wanted to scream out loud, but since my other children were sleeping I refrained myself… I was so angry and now I don’t know what will happen, I really don’t want Chanel to get pregnant especially when she had two puppies five months ago.
