I wouldn't do hip or Legg Perethes xrays until he was older and done by a board certified vet that can perform those xrays. My vet doesn't do the hip and leggs perethes xrays and sends me to another vet which I'm happy to do. Anything below 12 months on hips or Leggs Perethes is just prelims for OFA. As Mardelin stated, LP and hips will show up normally before the age of 1 but can at a later date. And Silk, Radar has normal knees and all other tests are scheduled for the next couple of months and will be posted on the OFA website after the first of the year, along with a CHIC number. While some of these tests are a moot point now because if he had Leggs Perethes or Hip Dysplasia it would have showed it's ugly head by now as Radar is 5 years of age. Yes, he's sired one litter but both are spayed and in a loving pet home and doing great with yearly health checks and everything is great. One good thing about Radar is he's never offered for public studding and only done with my own bitches or someone I know personally and has the betterment of the breed held at the highest level and we are on the same page as far as health testing and doing the right thing ![]() | |

He has not had the initial as far as I know. So should we have one done now and then again in 2mos. when he is getting neutered? We have a board certified neurologist from Gizmo and I am sure she can give us a lead on an ortho vet with the same qualifications. I know it's early but it certainly looks as though his hips and knees are going to be fine. We have a small set of stairs that we were using with Gi and Teddi just loves them...he is always bounding up and down them on and off the couch. He's fairly brilliant but for the teething/mouthing/nipping. He knows kiss but get him excited and it's nip nip nip ~ sharp little puppy teeth ~ "ouch!". Thank you for the additional info. One more thing...what would you tell a vet that wants to do additional vaccinations because she does not trust the breeder's self vacs? A friend of mine is going through this right now and I am at a loss for suggestions.

Your vet is attempting to over vaccinate your pup, which can be more determental to him than you know......Check the vaccination protocol in the YT Library......I wouldn't allow it.....
