| Constipation!!!! Please help! ok, I have a 8wk old little girl that was backed up about 2 weeks ago... So i took her in to the Er vet and they did an enima on her and then said to make sure she had water down 24/7 and feed her food that is watered down to get the extra fluids. So thats what i've been doing. She was good for about 4 days, and now.. she's backed up again. I cant understand. I have them (all 4 pups) on Royal Canine puppy33 and like they said...i put water in it to soften it just for bella. they do also eat the dry too.. So my thing is i now have her on a stool softener 2x a day and also putting the water in her food. is there anything eles i can do to help her. at this point i cant take her in to the vet again, i cant afford it now.. any help would be appreciated... | Maybe it would be better for her to have her mainly on wet food as she's still very young, Maybe a course of Benebac to make sure her gut flora is up to snuff. I'd also be stimulating her to poop after meals with a warm, wet cotton ball to the butt... maybe she's not as developed yet?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I agree, I would give her a course of benebac and keep her on wet soft food, also plenty of water, available, you can get benebac at your local pet store, I get mine at pet goods. Also I have given my dogs 1/4 teaspoon of mineral oil to help when they are constipated, you can get it at your local pharmacy. hugs, CArmen in nj |

| You don't want her to have diarrhea, it will dehydrate her quicker than she can drink to replenish it. Maybe offer her some canned pumpkin, it works to promote BMs and to firm up diarrhea, may help to get her regulated in the direction she needs to go. Has she vomited at all? How many times are you feeding her in a day? How much does she weigh? Is she gaining or losing weight? Is she the smallest of the litter? What coat color is she? Are her gums pink? Did the vet check her for parasites? Did he do an xray of her tummy and abdomen? Any chance she could have eaten a non-food item? Maybe try some gentle massage, similar to what her Mom would do when they lick the pups after they've eaten.

May be good to offer her some Pedialyte in her water and try it in her food too. Helps to replenish electrolytes lost from having diarrhea.

You do need to keep your pups kibble moist with wet food and anytime you change anything in their food you administer a tube of benebac. I would also suggest you put a bit of Karo in this pups drinking water...... Since she's hunching her back....she is experience gas.....a couple of drops of milk of magnesia or baby mylocon drops should help her. But, I strongly suggest that you take this pup back to the vet.
