I understood that, but she's pushing merchandise. These are living little creatures.

The final choice is yours; but as stated by others you're taking a chance as well as supporting a breeder that has questionable breeding practices.

These are living little creatures, it shouldn't be about how much or how little they cost......from a breeder's standpoint to a buyer making the final choice. By supporting this breeder you are condoning what she does and she'll continue doing it.

After reading what everyone wrote it confirmed what I already thought. I will not be buying a pup from this breeder. I dont have problems paying how ever much for a pup but not one that may be sick or wasnt bred right. In my search for a breeder I found this one it looked questionable so I asked for opinions. I love YT because you guys are so knowledgable and are helping those of us who have questions not make a bad mistake thanks all for your advice. And the search continues......

Go to the YTCA website and look for local breeders in your area. You will be able to find a good breeder that breeds nice healthy pups. Good Luck and cant wait to see pics of your new baby.

I don't know if we are encouraging any better breeding practices but the breeders are learning to cover up some of the things they used to brag about. For example, 2 months ago, this breeder listed weights for her dams (3 1/2 & 4 pounds) -- now only the male has a weight listed. Good that it is at least documented here in this thread.

Yup the internet age, slices all ways That is why it is so important to try to get to really "know" your breeder first.

It is so easy to "learn" all the correct catch phrases, set up a "slick" looking website. Take pics of your environment etc etc.

im not worried im not one of those people! i know what im doing and i know there are less desirable breeders out there im not into dogs or breeding for the money i only want to better the breed and i will not saying badgering people that are actually being harmful to their dogs or plugging their prospective buyers with high prices and stupid phrases is always bad but give it a rest if you bought a dog from the breeder and it dies or has problems and they dont make it right by all means talk about it and leave it alone if you hear about a breeder <hear say> you know gossip then you really dont need to talk bad about them not all breeders are bad your not going to see a westminster puppy for $400 on the internet so id be more concerned about the adds on puppyfind,kijiji and othersites for less money and if you still are skeptical then meet the person and the parents if they are reputable they"ll have no problem with that

So how are people supposed to learn what to look for or avoid in a breeder if people here don't point out what is right or wrong with a site?

The warning signs are all there. Pointing them out for buyers (both current and future) to learn to recognize is a huge part of what YT does. If it prevents a single person from being taken in by a greeder, then being called a "pack of wolves" is a cheap price to pay.

It is the community's job to point out red flags to potential buyers so that they can be wary and educate themselves. In this way the community helps prevent them from buying from poor breeders, mills, etc. and ending up with a sick pup! We had plenty of new owners of Christmas pups that died from being bought from bad "breeders."

If they had known what to look for in red flags though, MAYBE it would have saved them some real heartache. It only takes a second to fall in love, and then when that pup dies or is sick your heart breaks. Some even had the pups they gave their CHILDREN die. Would you want your kid crying right after Christmas because their brand new puppy died all because you didn't know what danger signs to look for??? I think not.

It is about educating on red flags. It isn't gossip. It isn't like we're making these warning signs up. They are there in plain sight!

First time poster in a questioning a breeder thread, shock of all shocks. I just figured I would respond for a possible reader.

yes and ive been there and its ok to educate buyers but im tierd of people going off of hear say and stuff they heard i know that thats not the case in every post here but come on some people are just witch hunting some breeders because the dog wasnt the size it was supposed to be or other thing that they got ticked off about i like this site and im entitled to my opinion i have a friend who is a very reputable breeder and ive read things on this site that are totally not true about her and i know the person who wrote it and how she had all her friends post stuff about her to try and hurt her and they have never bought a dog from her ! every puppy is not always going to be perfect and im all for the puppy mills being put out of buisness and i dont have a clue if anyone is really getting my point im not badgering anyone!!! i just think if someone is asking about a breeder then if someone replys it should be off facts and the fact that they bought a dog from this breeder not oh my sisters sister in laws mom bought this puppy and it was to big blah blah blah but as for this forum im thankful for it and it was a breeder who told me about it
