Shorkie Breeders
 

Hey guys do you know any Shorkie breeders up in the northeast? Please don't hate me just because I want a hybrid because I've seen the way some of you guys respond!!! Thanks! :animal36

Check your local shelterss:)

Try your local shelters...they should have several Yorkie mixes available for adoption...including 'hybrid' puppies. No 'reputable' Yorkie breeder mixes their lines with other breeds.

No reputable breeder would breed mixes.
But if you want a Shorkie, you can check your local rescue or do an internet search.

I doubt anyone here feels hate towards you...I, just fine it rude!
Would you go into a Hondo dealership and ask the best place to buy a Toyota?

Shelters & rescues are your best bet! All kinds of mixes can be found!
But if you decide you want a Yorkie, I suggest checking with YTCA.org for reputable Yorkies as well as shelters and rescues!

I love it. Never could understand why someone comes to a yorkie site to buy a mutt and on top of it call it a hybrid. I have nothing against a mixed bred dog, it sure isn't their fault but to intentionally mix breeds is ridiculous.

What is a Hybird? I thought it was a car?

Anyway go to a shelter. They have alot of mix breeds there that need homes.

I always associated hybrids with roses:)

First off, welcome to Yorkie Talk. It sounds like you've been around the site a bit before joining and posting. If you've lurked for a while, you know that no one would hate you for owning a mixed breed, but you shouldn't expect breeders on a pure bred forum to recommend someone that mixes breeds on purpose. I think that you would get the same kind of replies if you asked the same question on a Shih-Tzu forum.

Craigslist has mixes that need to be rehomed

Just want ya to know NOT all of us on here are hateful---so never fail to ask about anything--some of us will answer as best we can. As said you can most likely find a mixed puppy at the animal shelter---they all need homes !! There is NO need to be hateful people ! :)

One just needs to be sure with Craigslist it's not BYB or puppymills/brokers advertising vs people actually rehoming!

Well it could have been a general statement about the boards in general (past threads, past members, etc.)? It is worded in such a way that it doesn't necessarily pertain to anyone in this thread. At least, that's how I interpreted it anyway. :)

I don't think anyone specifically in this thread has been mean. Perhaps a bit of sass with certain comments, but hey I can totally see the car analogy so I don't think that's offensive. :D

craigslist is usually a little more strict with monitoring pet postings, but yes, still be careful in any situation where you are buying a pup! i know kijiji (not too sure if this is only a canadian site or not...) is REALLY VERY bad for BYB's and puppymills. :( I still look through both because you never know when there could be a person genuinly looking for a re-homing. I actually found Dexter on Kijiji as a re-homing. I was wary at first, but after meeting the very young couple that owned Dex, i knew they were just genuinly trying to find a puppy that they loved a new good home. they have actuall kept in touch with me to watch dexter grow up every step of the way too!

but back to the topic, i also agree that shelters and rescues would likely be the best way to go for a mixed breed pup. Google "yorkie rescue NY" or something along those lines, and I am sure many options for you to explore will pop up! Many rescues do have mixed breeds and baby and young pups also (not only adults) and think about the not only the happiness that you will get from having a new best friend in your life, but the happiness that new friend will feel for you giving a needing pup a second chance. it is a win win situation :)

....or perhaps the more likely scenario is that some member just have chips on their shoulders and jump at the change to accuse others of being rude and hateful....:rolleyes: When in doubt about someone's intentions, a quick check of their previous posts usually clears it up.

That's good to know about Craigslist. I just tend to be very cautious and question everything! So I just wanted to point out the importance of research.

After I posted I did just that and was a little shocked at what I found~:eek: I knew that name looked familiar :rolleyes:

Yes some are afraid to ask--there for they could ask some one not informed and get off into a mess---why can't we just be good care givers--and helpers of the breed and not hack each other to death. The lady asked a honest question--she WANTS a mixed breed puppy---what's wrong with that ? They need home to !?!? some of you people have honest people saying "don't hate me !" READ HER MESSAGE---she did nothing wrong ! Some of you gave good nice comments--some of ya didn't ! That's what I'm saying---come on !:( :( :(

Yes, mixed breed dogs need homes too. And there are millions of them in shelters in every city across the U.S.. But this forum should never be used to promote the sale of pups from people who are intentionally creating these mixed breeds. Either someone breeds for the right reasons (betterment of the breed) or they breed for greed (calling them hybrids to run up the cost).

Many of us believe we are being helpers of the breed by pointing out that reputable, ethical breeders do not take the breed and mix it with every other type of breed out there.
There is nothing wrong with a mixed puppy, tons of us here have them! The point is there is NO such thing as a good breeder of them! The best place to find one is a shelter or rescue! That really is the overwhelming response the OP received.
So I'm not sure why you felt the need to turn the tone here, when the thread really didn't go that way.

I think --my opinion !! that my previous posts speak for them selves--I'm trying to answer peoples questions as honestly as I can---WHY do we need to slur every one some one says--We need to be educating people not picking at every word. I still say the person asked and honest question and wanted a honest answer--instead of saying " Mutt" "Hybrid" "Honda to toyota" why not say. We dont breed mixed breed puppies here--and one reason we don't is when you mix 2 breeds then your never sure which 1/2 is going to crop out---the yorkie side or the ?? what ever it is in the mix. Also temperament can be mixed/ different ! There is any number of ways to give an honest , calm, nice, well mannored, eduacated answer ! Why can't we try that ??????:)
