Back to the topic at hand, I agree with the rescue part. I found quite a few "Shorkies" on my search for a "Morkie" at rescues/shelters. I don't know if anyone mentioned this or not (I forget it has been a long day), but beware of so called "rescues" on petfinder, while many of them are legit some are disguised mills/BYB. So make sure if you're thinking about a rescue do some background research to make sure they are a legit operation. :D Also, there are breeders who treat their animals well, raise them right, and make sure they are healthy that do breed mixes. It is just much much rarer and you have to dig really really deep and assure that is the case. Also, they may be located forever away from you and you will have to make the sacrifice and go to them. Seriously, take your time and do a lot of digging. Do research on red flags and look them up in every capacity you are capable of. Ask a lot of questions, do a home visit, etc. Make sure you do your homework. Mixed breeders, even ones that are actually good operations, are just not particularly looked upon fondly around purebred forums, which I understand. Unfortunately, there is no reputable forum for those seeking mixes to go and so they end up at purebred forums. Perhaps, some day when I have some time, and some web space, I'll create something like that. That way, we pesky mix seekers will have somewhere to go that won't bother people who dislike mix posts. I know that isn't everyone here, but there are some it probably really really offends and I'm sure no one is looking to offend anyone. However, despite my advice on breeders... your first choice should be a rescue! I tried for almost a year at rescues and I didn't have any luck. There are waiting lists and I was also told that people my age are looked over as homes (I was in the process of having my mother reapply for everything, but then I found my baby love. She comes home in November). Also, there are a lot of special needs dogs I couldn't handle or the rescues required home visits within a 2 hour drive, so I wasn't eligible because while I would drive 6 hours for the pup they wouldn't come to me. Rescues do have puppies though! It isn't all older dogs or teens. There was a litter of mixes at the rescue, but they were located too far away from me. So be patient and keep your options open and I'm sure things will work out. Just be sure you aren't lax in your research. :D |

If you go back and read 100% of the posts you will see that. Everyone should ask questions for sure, but anyone that is asking for advice on a reputable breeder of mixes will get the same information every time, there isn't one. |

Don't you think much of this is just plain common sense? I would venture to guess at least 99% of the questions asked have dozens of answers if the poster took time to read them..and if I did not have the time common sense would tell me not to go to a purebred forum to ask about a mix. The Internet has the world at our finger tips..why not use it? |

I think a lot of buyers come here and are looking to see if they get a fast response when looking for a breeder and probably check back a few times to see if anyone posts a name and then move on. They may post the same question on quite a few forums and aren't really looking to get involved with the site. |

Some people just like to turn threads nasty with their "opinions" |
[QUOTE=Beamers Mom;3282578]:yeahthat: Maybe she is still upset as the moderators had the gall (her words) to close one of her threads as she wasn't following the rules. Some people just like to turn threads nasty with their "opinions"[/QUOT This is another way to dig in isn't it ?? I didn't really know the rules and I think some ONE set me up on that one---I wasn't pricing or "TRYING" to sell my puppies but some one kept asking didn't they ! Any way this is a different thread--and it started offf very nice several said why not check out the animal shelter. The person say Hybrid--had NO idea what she was talking about--didn't know it would cause such a commotion ! My first post on this was #16 after I saw she was being attacked # 11 post Get a Great Dane---is that nice ? Go to a Honda dealer and ask for a Toyota ! Is that nice ? The person wants a 1/2 yorkie and !/2 something else---her choice ! All we can do is tell her animal shelters may have one---we don't have to breed our dogs to a 1/2 what ever to fix her ! But Nasty is Nasty----end of story ! |

Someone asks you to post something that is against the rules then send them a PM! Oh and for the record, the only one being rude in this thread is you. The OP was answered politely, that there are no reputable breeders that will breed mixed breeds. Best place to look is shelter or rescue groups. |

I don't mind answering or even finding out information for people but it does tend to irritate me when people come on a "Yorkie" forum and ask about getting a crossbred pup. She wasn't asking about using rescues or shelters to find a mix - she was asking about finding a breeder who crosses breeds. That's not ok in my book. And to be honest, she knew what she was starting when she asked - that's why I didn't answer her. |

No, I know you were trying to keep it light and I think the others were nice enough to answer the way they did. I think this has more to do with another thread than it does this one. |
