| I was warned about the licking of the sutures possibility. Luckily our vet cauterized them after docking instead. |

| tail docking latter my little 12wk tail is suppose to be docked but looks long vet even noed. how long is it suppose to be? IS IT TOO LATE TO SHORTEN? wOULD IT BE SAFE? Guess it makes her unique! So what if others laugh  . |

| I have no idea why the tails are docked (maybe just for looks and breed standard) but I have hard that the dew claws are removed because they can get caught on something and snagged. If this happens, that particular claw bleeds A LOT!! So I think the dew claw removal is more of a safety issue. But I am not completely sure!  |

|  Some Breeders leave the tails on...Its an option the Adoptee wants,or doesnt want....A lot of Adoptee families ask for Yorkies with tails intac.. The dew claws should always be de clawed for the puppies own health.. Its nothing but a nusiance  |

| A breeder I've been talking to does not remove the dew claws before adopting out her puppies (but she does dock the tail). Is there a reason she would dock the tail but not remove the dew claws? I'm considering buying a puppy from her, but at the price she's asking (just shy of 2 grand), I'd expect that should be done already!!! How much does it cost to have dew claws removed? Is it something they can when you have them spayed/neutered? |

| i had my pups tails docked and dew claws removed but if I had to do it all over again I would not....those pups cried all night...no not cried...screamed... I did it because I thought it was the norm....but after reading several other forums on this, more and more people are not doing it...I will not have their tails docked...i will the dew claws because of them catching and riping but not the tails....i think Yorkies with long tails are cute....if your not showing them what is the difference.... |
