I have no idea why the tails are docked (maybe just for looks and breed standard) but I have hard that the dew claws are removed because they can get caught on something and snagged. If this happens, that particular claw bleeds A LOT!! So I think the dew claw removal is more of a safety issue. But I am not completely sure!
