| Are sonograms 100% accurate? Our little Emmy (8 lb yorkie; bred by a 3 lb yorkie) is due with her 1st litter on Aug 17th. The doc did the sonogram today and said that there are only 2 puppies , and that one is a "big ol' guy." He told me that sonograms aren't always accurate, but I'm wondering how frequently they are right and how often they are wrong. Is there a chance there are any more? And I'm concerned about a big puppy. I want a healthy puppy, but not one that would be difficult to deliver. Any comments would be greatly appreciated |

| I wouldn't bank on it being completely accurate in regards to the number of pups--those little ones can be real wiggle worms and you just can't get them all in the same shot at the same time to insure that you aren't seeing the same one twice. As far as the size of the pups are concerned, it's a pretty good indicator and something to really take into consideration. If he thinks there are only two, then having one (or both of them) being on the larger size wouldn't be unheard of. At least you and your vet know in advance the chances that one is large. Keep us updated. |
