| Are they parti carriers? My girl, Sassy, had a litter of 5 pups. 4 girls and a boy. They were/are all healthy thank god. A couple of them have some spotted paws..black/pink. Some have white tips on their paws and some have white chests. Is this an indication that they are parti carriers? She's thrown a parti carrier before but it was with a different stud. Any info is appreciated thanks! |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Hmm Im not sure. My Poppy has white on the toes of her back feet, on her chest (within the tan/gold) and under her chin. It would be interesting to know if she is a carrier too.. Im not planning on breeding her but like I said would be interesting to know

| It is common for standard colors to have white patches on chest or white toes...that in itself does not make a Yorkie a carrier...some people are buying what they think are carriers and getting pure standards. |

Thats not why I bought Poppy by the way, because I have no intention on breeding her. To be honest I didnt even notice the white bits until after I brought her home. But I think its quite sweet because... the first pet I ever had was a rabbit and the rabbit has white toes on her back feet just like Poppy. My older dog Jess has a white bit on her chest just like Poppy... and of course Poppy has the white on her chin which is all her own So I like to believe she was made for me because she seems to fit into my little pet family perfectly Thanks for the advice on the partis though YorkieRose

| I know nothing about breeding Parti's...sorry. I have had many pups born with white on chest and toes..but by 12 weeks it is long gone or blended...it ususally grows off the end of the toes and the chest blends to a deep gold. In the Wildweir sisters book they talk about it being the sign of a good coat grower... I just do not understand breeders selling these type pups as Parti carriers and they are not... |

| The biggest clue is usually "ticking" on the roof of the mouth (pink with black spots). Toenails too...with a parti or Biewer gene they will have some clear toenails. Standard Yorkies always have black toenails.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I had read somewhere that the presence of a white patch on the chest is an indicator of a thicker coat. Has anyone else heard that?

| Wow...both of mine have all black toenails. My girl looks like a standard yorkie and there is no way of telling by looking at her that she is a carrier. My male looks standard as well...but he does have a very small amount of white fur behind his ears...such a small amount that I have to be combing him in bright lighting to see it. |

| I agree.. I have two carriers (I know because I bred them and they have both produced litters with parti's in them) and you would not be able to tell they are carriers by looking at them. They have all black toes, no ticking on the roofs of their mouths, no white on them at all.. they didn't even as babies any more than maybe a slight bit on their chests just as standard color yorkies do. Nothing on their toes ever. I have produced MANY carriers and none of them have ever had anything but black toesnails and I don't remember ever any white on their paws.. occassionally, a bit on their chest or chin that goes away by a few months of age. Some carriers however DO show more white as puppies, but just wanted to clear up any confusion that not all carriers show signs.. actually, most do not. That is why there are carriers who are AKC champions as they conform to the "standard" in every detail. (no white) Diana

| That is what I have heard, but I am glad you posted your knowledge first hand...so many sell pups as carriers and they are not..what a big disappointment for the buyer. |

| My opinion would be that if you can't look at the pedigree and see where the "color" came in to make that dog a carrier.. I would not trust that it is one. Just looking at a puppy is no way to tell. Diana PS actually the white is "lack of color", just makes it cleaner to say it the other way..

| ooh, no problem at all.. everyone hears these things from time to time and people do believe them to be true.. I'm sure whoever told you that honestly thougth that was the case. Most of my Biewers have ticking on the roofs of their mouths and a clear toenail here or there.. but not all.. some have full black mouths too so.. go figure... who knows right? Diana
