shes 3 and has bred wonderfully twice before with her previous owner. i would like to breed her once just for the experience, but since i am not experienced im not 100% sure of what to expect.
just in case she is in heat i bought some blue buffalo wet puppy food and nutri cal for her to snack on.
any thoughts as to what to do from here?

If she's just in heat and not being bred why does she need the puppy food and nutrical?

Given your lack of experience and reason for wanting to breed, my suggestion on what to do would be to have her spayed. Given the choice between the owners 'desires' and the best interest of the dog, I choose the dog.

If you want to "experience" the whelp of a litter, then find a local breeder who will let you sit in and assist on a whelp. They'd probably welcome the helping hand, if nothing else.
