Is this the temp spike we are looking for?
 
Today is day 64. Molly's temp was 100.0-100.5 early this week, then the past few days was 99.5ish. Today it dropped to 98.4ish and stayed there all day (not sure what it was like the night before).

I just took her temp now and she is back up to 99.9 Is this the "spike" in temperature that we are looking for giving us a 12-24 hour heads up?

Shes been clingy all day but is eating and pretty normal other than that.

I hate relying on that thermometer.....it'll happen when it happens. I know the waiting is the toughest thing to do.

Does she have a glassy eyed stare?

I'm not sure, I don't think so. Shes a little out of sorts wanting to cuddle with my husband and I, but her eyes are pretty "alert" if that makes sense.

Correct that, my father in law was holding her and her eyes definitely did look glassy

Some girls do not display a lot of the classic signs. My little girl had pups last night. Her temperature was up and down like a yo-yo all last week. Sunday morning she got up and was shaking but she ate normally, played as usual and slept comfortably. About an hour before she started to push she just got slightly restless. No nesting behavior, nothing out of the ordinary. First real classic sign was when she started to push. You just have to watch them really carefully and it'll happen when it happens. Be prepared at any time.

I don't remember if you said this was her first litter or not. But, it is a look that my girls get when in the first stages of labor. It's like they're having a hard time figuring out what is happening to them....a glassy, far away look. When they get that look, hard labor usually happens within a few hours.

The other thing you can check, is while she's standing, see if you can see the ridge of her spine....then feel to see if the pups have dropped....if you see any of those signs you are definately near. Now these are things I'm giving you to check for....doesn't always happen.

I don't know if you do this already, but it's something I do with each female and each litter. I begin documenting everything; from feeding, to weight, little difference in personality, mannerism.....

Yes it is her first litter, and I do think shes a little clueless (aww my baby). When shes standing I can see the ridge of her spine, but where do I feel to know if the puppies have dropped? How will it feel different than her puppies have recently? Over the past day or so her belly has been lumpy, and I could still feel them all over though, not lower toward her back end - well maybe one was, but the other one (or two) were still up

I do this too, I write down everything, keep a diary on each girl it really helps to do this. (but then at my age I have to write everything down):D

With my girls, I have noticed it looks more like their bellies have fallen and are much closer to the ground. That's why you can see the back bone ridge easier. Also my girls will lay on their sides a lot and stretch out, it helps the puppies stretch out in the uterus and line up in preparation for the birth.

Ok, so I do think that the puppies have dropped. Her stomach is narrower but lower. How long does it usually take after that has happened? She nests in the box when Im in the room, but if I don't stay she follows me out.

No set time, pretty much anytime after this happens.

Mine go 12-24 hours after it drops again...below 99

It has always worked for me. This is the only sign I get. Most of mine are up and running around then jump in my lap and start pushing..lol

Well this morning we have a little girl with a temp back down to 98.7 She is staying in her box and won't eat. No labor yet but today is probably the day.
