| I have a Parti Yorkie wannabe!! Now that I have your attention, lol... I have a question on my girl's coat. So Destiny has decided she doesn't want to be just one color or two. Her body color is now 3 colors, black, silver and white. She has these spots/patches of black hair that never changes color, black all the way down to the roots while the rest of her is very light. You know, I was thinking she was a parti carrier due to a recent discovery but I think it went to her head and she's taken it too far, lol. On another note, her hair has never been better!! In the past when she had a litter her hair would thin and she would break easily. This time around it was completely different, no damage. Is it normal for them to be 3 different colors on the body? Does anyone else have one with similar coloring? Perhaps she has always been these colors but I never noticed it because her hair wasn't as thick and long as it is now? Can food change pigmentation color? I noticed her nails are now two colors as well, black and brown/pink very noticeably two different colors. She's been fed Blue Buffalo the past 6 months. Her and the other furkids seem to really thrive on it compared to all other food. Should I be worried about the sudden color change? She had a full check up not long ago and everything was perfect. Sorry for rambling on, her new colors puzzle me and I am really curious as to why this happened. I know it is normal for them to get lighter as they age but that isn't exactly the case here. Here are a few pictures of Destiny, the color difference is even more noticeable in person. You can't see the white too well in these pics.

| I just have to say, that's a beautiful coat. =] Ella's coat is looking the same in the color. I think it's perfectly normal to have multiple colors on the body. She's super cut btw.

| What your girl is experiencing with the coat variation does, at times, happen to girls. Going lighter with each Heat Cycle, Litter, etc. It is attributed to hormonal changes in her body.

Senior Yorkie Talker | I don't know why she is like this but I have to say she is GORGEOUS! so unique! my pup's had her hair cut lately and it's growing now because we are going into Winter. She very silver and I would LOVE it if she had a perfect coat like yours! It's great to see her in such great condition too well done, you should be very proud of her

And one more question I'm curious about. Why is it that the roots look so wonderfully dark gray/blue color but lighter as it grows out? Makes me want to cut it short and start all over. LOL But yes, I know that probably wouldn't work.

I know it is often hard to find a girl that holds her color. I kept Destiny's daughter and son from her first litter. Her daughter had the perfect dark blue color when she was younger and it stayed that way for awhile. Now at 2 1/2 her color is going lighter like her mom's. Her son however is holding his dark blue. I can see one of the reasons why you want to champion the girls off as soon as possible.

| One other question that I thought of. When you get them spayed do they stop changing to a lighter color or go darker since they aren't dealing will all those hormones?

I always wean my pups on the finely ground up dry puppy food. You can also add a little canned Pedigree Lamb and Rice puppy food. | |
