| I've turned many away, but one sticks in my head more than the others. A very nice gentleman came to the house to see the babies and in the two hours he and his adult daughter were there, he asked 17 times how difficult it was to housebreak a yorkie. After the 5th time, my mind went blank and all I could think of was, what would happen to my babies if they were to pee in his house. I'm sure they were wonderful people, but I couldn't get past that. I'm never in any hurry to place my pups, they already have a good home with us.

| i remember once someone called the evening of the the day they took the pup home. he complained because the puppy was "too noisey and was biting". then he said he's like to return the puppy in the morning w/a partial refund. i said, "how about a FULL refund and i come get the little guy TONIGHT?" good grief... |

LOL! "And how do you feel about that expensive carpet being soaked in urine on a daily basis for the next year or two??" Let me tell you- the carpet in our living room/dining room is the color of dog pee and I hate it. If I don't see pee on the pad after I KNOW Olivia has peed, I can never ever find where she went! I could care less that she had an accident, but if possible I would like to absorb what I can and clean the area so that I don't get a surpise walking through the room. I clean what I can and just stock up on Febreeze! For anyone contemplating new carpeting... My mom had new carpeting put in a few years ago. It's a mauve color and it is wonderful. Pee shows up like a flashing light so you can clean it, and dog puke stains blend in quite well! I don't know what they heck is in their dog food, but if Missy (the lab) gets sick it always stains no matter how many times you clean it or which products you use!

| That link was supposed to take you to the exact page but it didn't work....think it was too long. find the carpet link and look at the Legato.

| Pee on a carpet....Oh PLEASE....with 3 pups running around I definitely know about pee on a carpet....With having to sell one of my pups I keep telling my husband it would be much easier keeping him than trying to find a family for him...i will be soooo picky about where he goes,,,,I have put off advertising him in hopes of my husband changing his mind..... I just this weekend visited a little 1.2 oz yorkie (at 10 weeks) that was sold to a family with two kids age 2 and 4...and i thought OMG what was this breeder thinking about....obviously not the pup just the money!!!! Children will be one of the reasons for not selling the pup...I do have two children of my own age 9 and 11 and they are extremely well behaved and very good with the pups...but I know how some children can be....MY own sister wants one of the pups and I won't sell her one I keep telling her she can't afford it...but I have my other reasons!!! |

children between the ages of 1-7 can be well behaved but just normal. KWIM? they're just being kids...which is not a good match for smaller breeds.

| Refusal to sell? Mini is due her first whelp in 3-4 days and I've already turned down 5 people who wanted me to "promise" them a baby. One lady at a town festival is "dying" for a female, then hands me her Yorkie Breeder card! Mind you, my babies are PETS, not baby making machines. Another with a 2 year old child ... NO! One with other (larger) dogs, Poms ... NO! One with no fenced yard ... NO! And one, buying the puppy as a gift for someone else! ... NO! Actually, I may not find acceptable buyers ... who will supply me with 3 references and let me inspect their home, LOL!!!

| Have any of you breeders thought you could get sued for discrimination by refusing to sell to certain individuals? Elizabeth
