| Can't tell if Ryann is pregnant... Hello All, I haven't posted on here in a year, because I couldn't figure out how to put a pic on here.....Well, I figured it out and I'm back Now my concern is... I had my baby Ryann, who is 4 years old; bred for the very first time. Today is supposed to be day 45, from the first day she was bred. Sometimes I see a little pouch on her and others she doesn't look like it to me. She has become a very picky eater for the past few days, and she is pretty laid back anyway so that hasn't changed. I have tried to google symptoms, but none relate to her. I have bred before, but Raven was totally obvious, her belly was huge. She had 5 puppies both times. So I'm a little bewithered right now. Oh, Ryann was 5lbs. before being bred, now she is 5lbs 2oz. So is it less obvious if she just has 1 or 2 puppies or should she still be kind of big at 45 days??? Please let me know some of your experiences. Thanks a Bunch!!!! |

| You should see signs by 45 days...does she have a clear sticky discharge? If you are guessing at day 45 I would say no...but in 10 days you can do an xray and know..best wishes,.. |

| She doesn't have any discharge. I'm taking her to have a ultrasound on Thurs. I just wanted to hear some experienced breeders info. Since I've never had this happen. Thanks!!! I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!! |

| I also have a female that was just bred 14 days ago. I have been told by several breeder that if a female is pregnant her vulva will continue to swell after her heat is over. Do you have an experience with that symptom on your previous yorkie that had 5 puppies.?? I also looking to see symptoms in my female yorkie also. I will stay tuned. |

| Watch her carefully through this if she is pregnant. This is her first litter and she is 4 years old. The rule of thumb is to breed before 3 years age for the first time, due to the lining of her stomach and age of uterus. I had one of my females I waited to breed her till she was three years old. She was fine. Just be careful with her. Have your vet keep an eye on her. |

| I hadn't heard that I should breed her by the time she was 3 years old. I waited so long because, the male I had was 6lbs. and stocky. His pups with Raven who is 7lbs. proved to be just like him. I got a new male, but he just turned 1 in Dec. and is not interested, yet. So I decided to get stud service. The male is 4.5lbs, has sired many litters and they have been between 2 and 3oz. at birth. I have/will watch her closely, she sleeps at the bottom of my bed everynight. To yorkiemom11: She is still a little swollen. And yes Raven was swollen throughout, but just much more obvious than Ryann...So I guess we'll just have to sit and wait. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Maybe she is just having one puppy. My female Halle had a singleton with her first pregnancy and I had doubts about her being pregnant up until I saw the puppy move (and even after that a little bit, LOL). I even had an ultrasound done early on that showed that one puppy was there, but since her belly didn't seem to grow much, I still wondered almost up until the end. She free whelped a 6 1/2 ounce puppy - a pretty big boy; he was obviously stretched out along the length of her body! She's pregnant again right now, due in less than 2 weeks is very obviously having more than one this time. Yay! Good luck with Ryann..........and keep us posted. Join us in the April litter thread. BTW........where's those pictures you learned how to post?

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Yeah, it's just a thread started by someone having an April litter, then anyone else that is having one in April also can just post about their upcoming litter too. It's a fun place to keep track of each others' litters and compare how the girls are doing and post progressive belly pictures. There's most always a thread every month. Very informal.........for fun.
