| Pregnant yorkie When is the earliest you can tell if a yorkie is pregnant? Kona went through her heat during the beginning to middle of Feb. We didn't see them tie, but we have seen slight changes in Kona. I know many people don't go to the vet for ex-rays until a few days before the due date... but could a vet tell ahead of time? Are there any noticeable signs? We have a trip planned in April, but I am thinking of canceling it on the incase that she is pregnant. Thanks in advance for your responses!

| I believe my vet says around day 50-53 for the xrays. The girls do get heavier, eat more, and some even get morning sickness. When you look at them from the top sometimes you notice that the girly curve is gone by that time but not all dogs are alike or carry alike. Good luck and I would not plan a vacation until I was sure via xray that there are or are not puppies...IMO |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | a good vet can palpate the abdomen at about 28 days after first breeding and feel for fetuses. I had my Chanel done at the time and the vet told me he felt about 4 or 5 bumbs, she had 5 little puppies at whelp. best of luck with your girl, wishing her a fast and safe whelping. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| An experienced vet or person can palatate at 4 wks and feel any whelps..after that fluid surrounds the pups and it is not easy to feel anything until later... |

| Yes the vet will know. How are her nipples? The should be a little hard and little swollen by now if she is expecting. |

| We feel her nipples have definitely changed. They are much firmer and they seem to be a little larger. Between that and the fact that I think her belly has changed a bit make me believe she might be pregnant. I'm definitely going to try to take her to the vet. I'll keep you all posted. I'm trying to resize some pictures that I took today.

| Were you planning to breed her? Did you keep them separated when she was in heat? Was this her first heat? How old is she? How old is he? When my girls are ready the males are whining at the gate all the time wanting to get in with them. If you were planning to breed, then you should have done your homework ahead of time and learned the signs of pregnancy and when they can be seen on an xray and that they should not be left to mate unattended. If you had done this then you would also know how far along she is so you can be prepared for her whelping. It's time to buy a couple of good books on breeding and start reading. | Did you take her to the vet yet? Just thought that I would let you know that the vet can do an ultrasound too. I know that the waiting part is hard, but for me, I would treat her as if she was pregnant until you know for sure. Best of luck to you
