Buyer be Aware of who you are buying that "cute" puppy from? Hi All, Other than putting in my ad regarding my yorkie for sale, I really don't write a lot on these forums. I am usually reading the valuable information you share with all of us yorkie parents out there. Many of you have been around for years and have seen the good and unfortunately the bad intentions of others involving the raising/breeding/selling and buying these beautiful, sweet dogs. I think I have been under a rock. I personally have always prided myself to be an honest-respectful and responsible breeder. I surround myself with people with those qualities. I have ALWAYS expected others to live by those rules when it comes to breeding an animal. (Yes, I have been under a pretty big rock..) It has taken me years of visiting breeders, finding a reputiable mentor, educating myself-listening to others and the ability to have the time and money involved to even consider becoming a breeder. I do it for the love and betterment of the breed NOT the money. Any breeder doing it for the right reasons will tell you that it is not about Money....you spend more than you ever put back in your pocket. It makes me so happy to find that right person who will give my little one the love and attention she deserves. I do my research on that person also. Yesterday, I received a call from a local breeder that asked me if I was willing to "trade" my puppy for a dog she wanted to sell. I told her that was out of the question! I was curious as to why a breeder was calling a stranger and making an offer like this. This woman has been breeding yorkies for years and I remind you (she has a nice website, on google and several other legitiment sites.) She told me she adopts yorkies from a shelter for a fee then turns around and sells them on sites including yorkie talk-and makes several hundred dollars selling them to a person who see a cute dog at a great price and listens to a fictious history and once again...what a great deal!! It is so sad. The dog may have been abused and neglected, scared of children or other animals and they will probably end up at another shelter before long. She is also buying very cute yorkies with (AKC papers) from Mexico. I wonder if the akc paper work is fraudulent....hmmm...i vote yes....would the buyer do their homework and call AKC? I always remind my buyers just because a dog is registered AKC does not mean that the dog cannot pass down congenital problems, temperment issues....etc She buys these babies for $ 400 and sells them for $800-$1,000. Great deal eh?? The buyers love the pups face, the kisses and the snuggling...chaa ching...she has a buyer. Chances are this baby will end up sick. No history...no research...it is the fault of the seller and the buyer. She is breeding some of her own yorkies When questioning her further...she says the father is "ummm at a friends house and he is getting his akc this week." She also sells, biewers, poodles, morkies...too many to list...do you see this on her site....no you don't...if you DON'T do your research you never will. It is frustrating...to see this happening. She and (many other "so called breeders") are putting these poor yorkies through hell to make a buck to satisfy that rotating door of buyers who don't bother to do some research and are convinced they are getting the deal of a lifetime. I told her that my business was based on integrity. To be able to look a buyer in the eye with no hesitation and know that they are getting a fair and honest deal. My dogs come from a happy home, lots of hugs with clean bill of health a legitiment family history and parents who will greet them at the door. Is the price "cheap?" No it is fair. I have a bottom line and will never go below that. My dogs are not a "blue light special." Anyone who comes over to look at my pup and says I love him BUT there is a lady with some cute AKC pups that are selling much cheaper across town....I shake my head...tell them good luck...be careful and show them the door. After talking with her...I took a long shower...I felt sick.....yep...I have been under a rock....I wish I could stay that...tx for the time...hope this helps someone? Sorry for the spelling errors....writing from the heart...and have left my spellcheck off... vicki |
Nothing surprises me anymore. People will sell their own soul if they could make a $. After posting that info here on YT I think you should also tell us who this so-called breeder is. Warning us is good however who are we being warned about? |
It's very disturbing to think that a YT member is doing this. Please tell us which member you're warning us about? |
I agree with Archie and bonbon, you should expose this money hungry breeder to us... shameful. |
how sick! Pls tell us who this breeder is? PM us if need be... |

I want to know too :) |
Maybe its her she said she has puppies, and she didn't come back |
me three...:D:D I want to know ... |
Wow, unbelievable! And a YT member at that! Very disgusting! Taking in sheltered yorkies then reselling them as if they were hers and making a profit, is asinine! SHAME! SHAME! |
Breeders Business I appreciate all your responses. Like I said in my letter I am honest and will tell you exactly how I feel about this. My concern is if I put her business out there after speaking to her 45 minutes on the phone and Telling her if she does NOT turn this situation around she is going to have some major problems (me). Yes the whole thing makes me sick...all about greed and not caring about what is best for her pups. So I guess, I need some help here. Should I put the name out there and end her business...? I wrote this letter out of the frustration of what MANY breeders are doing. I was trying to get across to the buyer to check these breeders out! Ask questions, check out their house, if they have more than one breed get the heck out of there. Get the AKC Litter number, run it through AKC....get the pedigree on the dog, do the research on it. I know the majority of you know all this and those who do- are the respectable breeders who you should buy a dog from. If the buyer does the homework there is no way in their right mind they would buy a dog from her. |
Well, I'm so glad you came out from under the rock. I lived under a rock for many years too, and it's easier living under the rock, and just thinking the best things about people and their motives. However, dog breeding is too important, we all need to climb out from under those rocks. I see members recommending breeders who have no idea what their breeding program is all about or have never visited the house. People seem to think if someone seems nice in threads or through emails or on the phone, they are a wonderful ethical breeder. Unfortunately we have many more greeders than breeders. Hope no one throws stones at you for telling the truth. |
I think everyone NEEDS to know who this person is. |
What a tough situation for you but I believe if you really want this to stop then you have to say who the breeder is. Sadly we talk about this all the time on YT but we see members, even members who have been here a long time still buy from bad breeders as apparently they can't figure out who is a unethical breeder. Please do the right thing for these little ones as they cannot speak out for themselves. Help shut down this breeder....we can only do it one at a time. |

You are in a tough situation. However, keeping this person under wraps is condoning what she does. She should be stopped in her tracks. People like this woman shouldn't even been involved with dogs. For the good of the membership that is looking for pups, you need to stop this person. What's worse is this person is doing it in the name of "rescue" Just because a person is a YT member doesn't make them reputable. There's good and bad in every situation. How many are on here just to sell dogs. You see it every day. First post posted is selling dogs. Happened this very morning, not on a post, didn't have the courtesy to introduce themselves, just blogged. Or anytime someone is looking for a pup they jump in and spout I have pups and go from thread to thread doing that. |
bad breeders I agree with every word you said. It is important to read the rules (which I am guilty of not doing at times...and have been kindly reminded.) I promise that I will be watching this woman. I will be calling animal control if the situation is not resolved. I think I have pm'd almost everyone who responded to this thread. I gave the area in California where she lives and have encourage anyone who is looking for a dog to be careful! Hope everyone understands! Tx |
I wouldn't want to cause trouble, so I understand the hesitation in "outing" this person. However, she freely contacted you and shared the info that she is doing this on this site and others. If she were that worried about keeping it under wraps, why would she have told you? In your post you wrote, that you hope your letter helps someone on this site. I think it will, it contains valuable information about what to look for and look out for. I am right now buying a pup, and I would have never known I can contact the AKC (or, here in Canada, the CKC) to make sure everything checks out properly. SO thank you for that advice. However, the only way to truly prevent one of us from buying from this breeder is to identify the breeder and/or the website she has her pups posted on. Thakns for putting the info out there, no matter what you decide. I haven't been on this site for long at all, but have I ever learned the huge responsibility that I have as a buyer!! |
I really hope you post who this breeder is... I am close to california myself and would hate to be a victim or for anyone else for that matter.. And i believe thats why you posted this to help others not fall for this breeder but giving us half the story doesnt help especially if this breeder is selling pups here :( I found this site on google one day and im sure someone searching will also go to google and this thread that you started may in fact help alot. But thats just my thoughts. |
Then PLEASE pm me. As I will be purchasing another little one in the future and I want to stay clear of this particular breeder. Talking is fine, but without a name, the buying is not being stopped. Please let me know, I do not want to purchase from a despicable breeder such as this!!:thumbdown:thumbdown Thanking you in advance for your caring and concern!! |
Please PM me with the info. I do get numerous calls from people looking for a yorkie puppy. And at times they share with me where they have been looking. Whether they buy a pup from me or someone else. My principal purpose is to educate them on doing their homework. |
I want to know............ |
I think all YT should know. |

So, what other "sites" is this breeder advertising on? If you could please name them, I would appreciate it. Did you also inform members on the other sites, btw? I think there is going to be some confusion regarding your own For Sale threads here at YT as well bc I've already received PMs about this. Quote:

What a mess I am not sure what you mean when you say there is confusion my puppy for sale ad and this unethical breeder. That really gets me upset. This has really turned ugly and it was not suppose to be anything other than a letter to educate others about a frustrating situation. Okay, tell me everyone....if I out this woman and her business and it will be destroyed based on a conversation she had with me which lasted about 45 minutes. Tell me...am I positively sure that this was the business owner who called me? When I answered the phone she said I saw your ad and was wondering if you would be interested in trading your pup for my biewer. I said absolutely NOT. She continued talking....and talking....I shared with all of you what she told me. I have been inudated with PM.'s some really nice people and some really rude people. I have tried to p.m. each person that commented. I have told them not to buy from anyone from Temecula, California. BTW, I would call Animal Control immediately if I thought the dogs were in danger....I don't know. I do know she is unethical in the ways she collects and sells her dogs. I don't see what this has to do with MY ad in Yorkie Talk? I do apologize, I really don't get this upset....this was NOT meant to be what it has become. |
This very situation has always been a concern of mine as I post welcomes to Newbies and find that they are looking for a puppy. When I first joined I assumed any YorkieTalk member loved Yorkies as much as I do. How naive. Many times I tell a Newbie that anyone can join YorkieTalk....so please do your research. I post links to different threads that tell how to choose an ethical breeder. Not to long ago I read a thread that stated there were at least two puppy mill owners who are members of YT. I don't know if any more information other than the states were given, but that is quite worrisome. The only way to rectify these types of situations is for someone with information to come forward. It is a risk but our Yorkies are worth it. ~Joanne~ |
Well....sounds like you still have some body parts under that rock......Call your local Humane Society, tell them what you think is going on. Don't ask, Tell them you want it investicated. Be sure & check back. If they haven't then call the police. Animals do have rights, & its up to us to speak for them. You will.....sleep better. Helpful hint for all of us as far as puppy mills. When ever I go onto a web site to buy something I always check out that web site advertisers. If a kennel is listed, I go to the list of Puppy Mills that a YT posted here. If that kennel is on the list. I e-mail that web site & tell them 1. Why are you supporting Puppy Mills 2. I will not buy from you. 3. I am spreading the word about you. The good web sites will e-mail me back & remove that kennel. So we can all play a small roll in shutting these A@$ H%#&^ down. |
reply Just don't buy a yorkie or any other dog from Temecula California. Vicki |
i did a search of the city and this breeder pop up Sweet Yorkie Kisses - ***YORKIE PUPPIES{Golden Yorkies}{Chocolate*Yorkies}{Biewers} Yorkie Studs for Hire-links on the right ...not sure if this the one...but this one looks like a puppy mill to me!
