The example I posted was just that, an example, my point is that I never see anyone suggesting that the parti puppy should be evaluated before it's bred, I read lots of threads here, we seem to have lots of parti breeders, and I have never once read a thread where this is suggested. You are teaching the non-breeders as well as the breeders when you suggest these types of things. Just this past week we had another member have a litter and her mating dogs were the result of a "whoops" pregnancy by another breeder. I would think very seldom a whoops pregnancy would result in a dog suitable for breeding. If you want people to see that you are breeding for the right reasons, you have to stick your neck out there and "admonish" poor breeding practices, not just those of us who are against it. If I'm wrong about this, and any of you parti breeders do suggest better ways to breed than you must have some links to those threads. I would like to be able to tell the difference between a good parti breeder and a bad one.

Like I said I don't pick out people on the forum and chastise them in public. To me there is is a right way and wrong way to approach someone doing wrong and I feel it is not by berating them on a public forum, but in private. So you have no idea to whom I talk to or speak to about their breeding practices.

In all honesty have anyone of you bothered to ask what some of the parti breeders protocol is for their breeding stock? NO! Instead you all band together in bashing them.

I will tell you this. I do know of some parti breeders who have a protocol for their breeding program and I know of many so-called show breeders (even some YTCA members) who do not have a protocol for testing.

I would like my previous questions answered about enhancing coat color.

I think you should spend some of your time along with some others policing the YTCA members to make sure they adhere to the standard.

Plain and simple the AKC does recognize the parti yorkie. If the AKC did not recognize the parti yorkie many of them would not be AKC registered.

Donna How many can state they have never shown or bred anything but a true steel and gold/tan.
If a person has used a black, Lt. Blue or red legs in a breeding program, you have deviated from the standard.

Parti breeder are not asking for approval but we do ask for the same respect to upholding our convictions about the Parti's.
Since there are thousand of standard breeders and only a handful of Parti breeders at the present time.
We are building the gene pool and as soon as we have enough to support the pool, Parti to Standard breeding will be discouraged.
Parti breeder are not interested in taking over but we do feel Parti’s have every right to claim their heritage and an equal place in the Yorkshire world.

Come on! Do you not think your reputable show friends do not have some oops breedings? Have you not noticed all the yorkshire terriers for sale and many of those breeders have poor breeding practices. Maybe if you actually took the time to look you would be able to tell the difference between a good or bad parti breeder. Instead you spend your time chasing down their threads to bash them. Do you really want to know the difference between a good and bad parti breeder? Honestly I doubt it.

I do understand your love for the yorkshire terrier breed Nancy. But I do not understand why you all feel the need to pick on some reputable honest breeders who actually love their dogs and take wonderful care of them. When you can all actually prove every member of the YTCA follows all the guidelines set by the club, you can pick on others.

I'm for better breeding period. The AKC also registers dogs that live in puppy mills, the AKC is just a registry, and just because a dog is registered with them, it means very little about the quality of the dog or the breeder. If you are referring to the link in my signature, I do that as a service to those members of Yorkietalk who want to find an ethical breeder in their area. I am not affiliated with the YTCA, and my views are my own. I just appreciate the fact that a member of Yorkietalk (not a member of the YTCA), told me about the YTCA, and I was able to find a breeder whose standards matched my own. You still have to do your homework. I'm not in favor of people buying dogs from websites; I think every buyer should do a home inspection before they purchase a dog.

Can't really comment on enhancing coat color, if you mean as some type of trick for a show, the breeder is just fooling themselves. Most ethical breeders are building a line, not just selling pets, if you are doing that, what good would it be to breed a dog, that’s not really worthy of breeding?

Well I can say I've never bred a red legged yorkie or a very light yorkie in fact my very first champion when he matured went too light and I neutered him and he came from a great pedigree just wasn't something I wanted in my breeding program but I have when I first got started bred a black yorkie but learned that was not the correct way to breed. What I think is a dark steel blue yorkie may be different than what someone else interupts a dark steel blue yorkie but I try and breed as close to the breed standard as possible.
Will I knowingly breed a Parti no and if I were to ever it produce it it would be spayed and neutred as would the adults involved. Don't get me wrong I don't disrespect you in anyway I just happen to strongly believe in upholding the yorkie standard as closely as possible. Can I live with some faults and try to improve the standard absolutely but I can't live with something that is considered a DQ and a major fault in my breeding program.

I noticed you're a new member as of yesterday. May I ask who are? I only ask as you've stated that you've shown before and would like to know if we would know you. In my opinion it is unethical. There are many show exhibitors and handlers who enhance coat color to win. Along with covering up other flaws to win. We have actually seen conformation judges smell a coat in the ring to check for the odor of coloring, but they have ways of covering up the smell of the coloring as well.

When the standard for the yorkshire terrier was changed as far as coat color it made it a little more difficult for show exhibitors. Dogs were being DQ because of being a little to light or to dark in color.

In a perfect world we could all agree to disagree without the issue of bashing, but this is not a perfect world. If this was a perfect world exhibitors would not have to enhance color and try to cover up other flaws in their dogs to win a championship.

Hi..I am a new member based in the UK..I have never seen this parti colour anywhere..either advertised or else in the UK.

we have all the usual Steel Grey/Tan/Gold/Blue but never any white

it's very confusing..:rolleyes:

what is your fascitation with enhancing the coat and coloring the coat? It's not like it's being bred that way like the parti, chocolate and so called teacup and babydolls? It's not determintal to the breed like breeding liver shunt, LP, leg prethesis, bad top lines, crippled rears ect....sounds like you know alot about coloring a coat LOL...are you disgruntadled for some reason with the yorkie standard? Were you beat in the show ring by someone you thought had colored a dog? You sound very hostile towards show exhibitors in general...and you are new to the form and have shown no respect so far to anyone except those that agree with you.

Hi and welcome to Yorkietalk, from what I understand all the Parti's can be traced back to one line. Even the Biewer, developed in Germany, has been said to be linked to this line. I guess Mr. Biewer may have been a Parti breeder, but he seemed to take it very seriously, and wasn't just breeding pets, he had a vision and he developed a standard. After his death, the breed almost died out, but American interest brought it back to life. There are many breeders breeding the Biewer in America, and different clubs with different agendas, some believe that there is no difference between the Biewer and the Parti, and even mate the two together. Others believe that there are huge differences, and it's best to keep the lines pure. I believe that there are huge differences in the breeders and their motivations for breeding. So perhaps you know the parti as a Biewer?

Her posts do not sound like she is "fascinated" with dyeing a coat...or in your words, "enhancing it". :rolleyes: She is trying to make a point by saying that there would be NO reason to color a coat if the Yorkie were steel blue/tan to begin with. Which this is what has been hammered in many times throughout this whole thread but yet, somehow it is different for those of you that have dyed. I think you have kind of make your post a touch personal by telling her that she sounds hostile towards show exhibitors when she is making a very valid point...and one that is repeatedly being ignored. You also mentioned something about her lacking respect (:rolleyes: )...is she suppose to automatically show respect for breeders that are practicing something that she might disagree with just because she, too, is involved in the show world?? :confused:
