| Tinny Puppy Question Our girl Tink hand three pups this round and one is very tinny they are 13 weeks old and she weighs 10-11 oz and her two other sisters weigh 2.2 pounds, as this is the first time we have had one this small my question is how long will it take for her to catch up with her sisters. She is very active and loves to play but if she dosn't eat or get fed every 2- 3 hours she get very weak, she also hardly ever drinks water. Any advice will be appreciated. Note: Not catch up to her sisters in size I know that not going to happen, talking about the eating. Last edited by Ramrod; 02-16-2010 at 12:47 AM. |

| I would make sure she is fed well...do not allow her to go without food for more then a couple hours...repeated spells of hypoglycemia can cause brain damage and it drains the tiny pups resources...try to prevent it. I would not let her go to a new home until she was at least 6 months and bile acid test could be done with assurance she does not have liver shunt. I would hope by a full pound she will be more stable, but that is iffy...age is your best friend with a puppy like this...others will post lots of good advise. I would feed her whatever she will eat..chicken, beef, cheese, high quality canned food and dry..Nutracal several times daily. Good Luck |

| I currently have a tiny one here with me... about weeks old she was just an ounce or 2 over a pound... i keep a closed eye on her. This is the season i am flexible at my work, i am working from home 3 to 4 days a week and do not have set times to go into office... she eats well , is very happy but very clingy ! I will only let her go to a home with someone there full time... kkk... either someone who works from home or could take her to calm work place! She is very energetic but i give her the nutrical 2x times daily just in case... she eats dry food, but not enough, she needs canned food to . maybe you can keep your tiny one on some canned food as well. Other than being little she is a happy little being ! loves toys, chewing toys... happy little baby ! Hope my experience can help you ... XOXO

| What kind of milk. Make sure it is only goats milk. As fresh milk can cause problems. No mother's replacement milk as other problems can evolve with them. So, Canned Goats milk, mixed with = parts of distilled water.

| Thanks haven't thought of using the rice mix, do you have certain measurements you use to mix or just eyeball it? |

Since this is what I start my puppies on I usually mix it in a Pie Plate.....so, I'm mixing for more than one puppy. Do it more on eyeballing. Darn puppies tell me if I don't make it runny enough for lapping....they just won't eat it.

| Goats milk is so good..I wean my pups with it...also a UK product called Dyne is excellent for putting weight on tinies..most dog suppliers carry it..it tastes like Eagle Brand evaporated milk..very thick and mine lick it easily. |

| I just ordered a new bottle of DYNE today from Revivalanimal.com. Give it to my boys when I have a girl in Season and also keep it on hand when I'm traveling to show sites.....

You might want to try a bit of whelping pudding too. The recipe is on a sticky. I give it to my tinies.
