| My yorkie is doing fine, resting. Her puppy died. The Vet said the puppy apparently died 2-3 days ago due to complications (probably too big for her birth canal). My yorkie is fixed so that she won't have to go through that stress again. I have 2 other puppies from another litter, a boy & girl, two weeks old and doing just fine. I appreciate all the helpful advice and kind thoughts. Thank you all so much!!! |

Just read back and the bloody discharge at first sounded 'red flag" . I am glad you took her in and went good. Sorry you lost the puppy but apparently it was not meant to be. Wishing you well on your other litter. Happy healthy New year ! XOXO

| It's a little too late, but blood during labor & before any pups are born is a bad sign. Sorry you lost the pup, but glad the mom is doing ok.

Just to point out to those who may be reading and unaware, you often see breeders stressing the importance of having a an x-ray done around day 50--it is to *hopefully* avoid situations like this. X-rays give the breeder and vet an idea of how large puppies are and can give you advance notice on if a c-section would be a better option than letting the dog try to deliver them naturally. It's not always a guarantee, but it does decrease the chances. | |
