I myself either breed every other heat cycle or two heat cycles in a row and then skip a heat cycle. When I skip a heat cycle it is close to a year that they have of rest. Do a search and you will find more information on heat cycles and breeding. |
Congrats to Livi and all the other mommys to be!! I can't wait to see the newborns when they get here!! Destiny is actually due the same time as Livi, January 16. She has got quite the tummy on her already and seems to be growing bigger each day. I just had a litter of two pups a day ago so we are enjoying puppies now. I wasn't planning on having two litters so close together but Harmony was 2 months late in coming in heat and Destiny was a month early. It just worked out that way. I guess they wanted to share the experience together as mother and daughter. |

Sounds to me like you already think you know. It all depends on the dog. If they had trouble, or a real large litter that caused them to get run down, if they did not bounce back after whelping. You need to read an learn more and get your own breeding program before you start questioning others. In about 5 or 6 years then come back with your knowledge. meanwhile just observe. |

Ollie is getting so round already I'm guessing 5 or 6 for her. She is due Jan 21. |

I had three all in the same week last time, now they are spacing them out. One is due in Jan, one in feb, and the third has not come in yet. |
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments, now i can just enjoy reading all of your post on the new ones Mom & babies are all doing good little bellys full as can be she is being such a good little mom & this is her first time. JeanneK you ask me a question on another thread about the lady keeping 2 out of 3 puppies that her dog fed after mine did not wake up from a c-section, the answer is yes she did, but i think she really needed the money since they own a McDonalds in the next town Lol |

How are your mommies acting/feeling? Livi has done NOTHING but sleep...this is how she has been the whole 6 and a half weeks. Also, she pretty much stopped wanting to eat shortly after being bred. She normally loves her ACANA food, but we had to start being creative to get her to eat now. I just really hope that her eating doesn't become even more difficult in the next couple of weeks. Last litter she didn't become picky with her food until closer to her due date....this has definitely been more of a challenge. |

Destiny is the exact opposite of Livi. Very playful and other than the first week or two of pregnancy she has a great appetite even right before pups come. |

Ollie sleeps a lot too and went a couple of weeks with little appetite, which might be the cause of so much sleeping. Now her appetite has picked up. Tammy for the final 2 weeks of pregnancy I feed mine cottage cheese and a half bolied egg twice a day, and puppy food. The last two weeks they seem to eat non stop. |
Does anyone know of a heating pad, but one that doesn't require it to be plugged in? I found this but it is not big enough or flat enough: How it Works - SnuggleSafe heating pads for people and pets Any suggestions? |

Did you see the stuffed doggie and kitty that you can order for these? I have the dog and use it for the older pups and they love it. You stick the snuggle safe inside it and it keeps it warm. The dog is big so plenty big enough for them to lay on even older plus it keeps them nice and toasty. Just an idea if you are worried about the size. Snuggle Safe Heating Pad Cover - Dog.com How about one of those self warming beds? I've used those before as well and they work good too. Sleep-Right Self-Warming Thermal Pet Bed - Cooling & Heated Pet Beds Hope this helps some. |

I haven't posted recent pics yet, but will probably tomorrow. By the way, they are doing great. Will be 7 weeks old on Saturday. They are keeping me very busy. |
upcoming in jan. Hello, I don't think I've posted before, but I have been trying to breed my 3 1/2 year old Abby for her last 3 heats with no luck. The owner of the stud had used DR. Roys stud and bitch fertility product. Her bitch also had issues getting pregnant. Both times she used this prouct she would get healthy litters. Then if she didn'nt use it no litter.I have to say this stuff works Abby is 3 1/2 and due any day with her first litter. I am beyond excited.............I have been reading and watching the whelping process for years ...hoping each breeding would be a sucess. I have a Dogging medical bag packed with anything I might need.....I go over board with my yorkies (I have another little girl 7 months old) Anyways yes I have a litter due any day. Wish use luck it's our first time. Laurie |
