As Donna says, save your money and buy quality from a reputable breeder. Yes, you can more than likely get one for $600.00, $700.00. But, it's pay less now and pay the vet more later.......

| Okay, so I am looking for a yorkie puppy and was considering buying from this breeder. I have two yorkies, but they are more "rescue" than anything else. I want a young puppy that I can train (my girl was a year old when I got her, and her hard head makes commands nearly impossible) and possibly compete with. Puppyfind is proving to have horrible results, and I couldn't seem to find any reputable breeders. Everyone has too many dogs, too many breeds, or gives limited registration & spay / neuter. I have been communicating with this breeder for a while (wish I had joined the forum and found this thread sooner, with a generic name like that - google didn't pull much up at all). They have some beautiful dogs. Things are slowly starting to trickle out ... like someone mentioned, they have a LOT of photos of breeding stock, but even more sires and dams that aren't pictured. Also, she is not retired. She works as a nurse. I know for a fact that those are long hours that leave you with little energy for things like .... five litters of puppies. Sadly, I have paid 100 dollars and do not know if I can get it back at this point. My major red flag came recently when she told me that my puppy (who was 4 weeks old) is about to start the weaning process (!!!). And that she may be ready to go even before 8 weeks. I have already fallen in love with this puppy, but I'm becoming intimidated by this. My boyfriend thinks that we should get the puppy, and that 8 weeks is just a "recommended age" for people less experienced in breeding. I don't think he understands .... When I was very young, my parents bought me a Scottie from what basically turned out to be a puppy mill. She started with ear problems ... then skin problems ... then epileptic seizures. I refuse to go through that again. I may just have to "eat" my deposit and forget about this breeder. Am I right in this, or being paranoid? Also, who (in Texas) IS a reputable breeder? Who will offer full registration so I can possibly get in to showing? Who doesn't charge a ton of money because the dog carries some *special* gene? Thanks for any feedback -puppy purchase newbie- -Bodie Bear -Vada Jean-&Artemis Kitty |

) there is no doubt that they are not good, reputable breeders. In fact, it is highly unlikely that you will find a show worthy dog from a breeder like this. I don't show Yorkies and am not a breeder, but when I looked at their site I didn't really think the dogs looked like they were within the standard according to the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (just my opinion), which is where you should start your search for a REPUTABLE breeder:Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club Also, research a bit more about how to get into the show ring. Just buying a puppy with a full registration isn't really how it works. Good luck!

1. Wow! A deposit on a 4 week old pup. 2. Did you see the pup prior to placing the deposit? 3. If yes, to the above....my gosh.....a stranger in the home without benefit of puppy shots..... Yes, there are a few reputable breeders in Texas. I began my exhibiting career and my show dogs are from Texas. What is sad is that many of the reputable breeders are winding down their careers so, you'll have to really do your search. There is information in the YT Library you may really want to delve into.....There is also a couple of Regional Yorkie Clubs in Texas...you can access the information via the YTCA.org club.....The YTCA.org page is an excellent way to go.....but, going to the regional club will better serve your geographical area. Oh! If your questin of who will offer full registration "in case you want to show". It doesn't work that way with reputable breeders.......If you want to show....you will have to show the dog to Championship and on a stringent show contract. Reputable breeders will not sell you a show puppy without fully knowing you and mentoring you....and the mentoring process would have started way before they'd place a dog with you. If you have further questions, I'm here to help.
