John and Margaret Smith in East Texas? Is anyone familiar with this breeder couple? Just thought I'd check before I put a deposit down. Thanks! |

East Texas is noted for BYBers, Puppy Mills and those that sell their dogs at the Canton Flea Market. |

i bought a male from them a few years back...and he was a beautiful puppy. i paid like 600 bucks for him and all was well until he bit my son. i have never had a problem with a yorkie being tempermental. but i thought they were very nice and always answered questions i had regarding his care. i no longer have him...but if i had to choose again i would call them. the only thing i didnt like was how i received him....when he was old enought o pick up they met me in a walmart parkinglot and had him in a playpen. when i asked to come by they kept putting it off. and i know she has more than 20 or 30 breeding females so all year long they have 2 or 3 litters available at once...there is never a point they dont have pups www.littlehappyheartskennel.com |

You would call them again??....I certainly would NOT recommend a breeder who would not let you see where the pup's are raised....That is a huge red flag that something is wrong......20-30 females!....Again how could they give that many dogs the proper care and attention they need......I would certainly look elsewhere for a pup......Sounds like a mill....... |

yea well at the time i was naive....and no it was a typo..my keys stick. i wouldn't call. sorry. because i remember asking her about his papers i lost and she never sent me a replacement. took forever. and when i asked about her retired females to be a pet she was rude. i even asked her tospay them before hand and it was just BLAH |

They have approximately 16 puppies listed on petfinder ranging from 4 weeks up! :thumbdown If you go on their website and look up available puppies... then look at the names of the parents... I could only find one that they had under their sires. No - I wouldn't suggest these people. |
Good Lord - she's letting these puppies go to new homes at 6 weeks old!!! Oh, unless they're going to be shipped then you have to wait until they're 8 weeks old!!! |

Well that must be new...i remember when i put the deposit down on rambo he was 5 or 6 weeks and wasn't allowed to get him til he was 8 weeks exactly. now its younger? i know she takes deposits at like 4 which even then i think is too soon because anything can happen, even until the 8th or 12th week. i know he was hypogycemic the night i brought him home but was overall healthy minus one ear infection |
whoah....i just looked at site again....and right now she has 7litters available for chistmas....ugh. i can barely handle my one. lol. she use to only do 3-4 at a time...and imagine...between 400-700 a piece??? thats a great retirement income. www.yorkielittlehappyheartskennel.com |
As said, East Texas is KNOWN for BYB's and Puppy mills selling at the flea market in Canton, Texas.....no reputable breeder would sell at a flea market UGH.....I wish people would really reconsider wanting a puppy for nothing and not try and save to buy the best puppy from a reputable breeder. Patience is the key and not wanting something "NOW" and buy from the wrong person! Donna |
