| ![]() First let me say I love my babies but...(there's always a but isn't there?)...as the owner of 2 females and 2 males...and as the owner of said females who are going through heat one right after the other...and as said owner of 2 males who are absolutely nuts right now with whining, pacing, crying, not eating, marking (thank God for belly bands, sassy pants and Poise pads!) barking, trying to jump baby gates, trying to undo the velcro on the sassy pants, rubbing their belly bands off onto the floor, needing constant supervision when around the girls even when everyone is 'dressed', having to take them out seperately and my boys acting like they have no manners at all and they pooped their brains out somewhere in the yard...etc...etc...etc... My advice to you would be noooooo! If you have the opportunity and funds available for stud service with a nice stud go for it but as for owning your own stud...be ready for a whole new life and stress level! I currently have the girls in the spare bedroom behind a tall baby gate and the boys go in the laundry room with another baby gate at night. During the day I alternate letting the girls or the boys out for free time and to go outside. My girls are quiet and don't bark so they're good no matter where they are however, the boys go nuts behind the gate with whines, barks, chirps that sound like a fire alarm that needs a new battery and constant jumping to get over the gate. At night the boys still whine and chirp...thank goodness they don't fight with each other. Yes, I'm missing a few hours of sleep lately... Now, when no one is in heat my babies all get along great and everyone is quiet and the boys are total lovebugs but when that cycle starts they change into furry little critters that I don't recognize! So, if all of that sounds like fun to you I say go for it but if not then I would hire a stud when needed or even co own a male with a friend or family member. Trust me...your life will change...and mine will change again soon...when this cycle is over I'll be making several appointments with my vet for spays and neuters! |

| ![]() I only have the 1 boy that I use for breeding. It's so difficult when the females are in heat. (I only have 2 females). He won't eat, he cries, he whines, he drives me crazy. Otherwise, he's great.
