| ![]() Ah!!!! For the next time, a couple of NutriDrop drops rubbed into the gums gives them alot of strength. That along with a have a small tube of Benebac probiotic for good bacteria.

![]() gina doesn't have any of that, but I did bring over some calsorb that I had from before....I don't see an expiration date on the syringe. Is this the same thing you are talking about? If so, how often and how much should she give mama? and when to start? Or is there a better product that Gina should go out and get? thanks... btw, all the babies are nursing and two placentas were delivered. We still feel a lump that feels like a baby. deb

If you think you have one more pup, go in and feather her, put a sterile glove on lubricate one finger with KY and gently insert your finger and kind of feather. It should get her down to business again. Now it's tricky because sometimes the flacid uterus can feel like a pup too. You can administer some of that CalSorb now and it can help her with that possible last pup. She maybe getting tired. If you haven't all the placentas, I'd get her in for a Clean Out Shot (Oxcytocin). It'll clamp down on her uterus and remove any fetal membrane, also help increase her milk supply. Any retained placenta can cause an infection and you can lose your mom.

![]() Bailey weighed 10.4 at the xray, which was about a week ago. She is normally 8 lbs. , obviously a little on the larger size for a yorkie. She will do the oxy shot and go get some calcium tabs from petco (it's close by)...thanks again, Mardelin.

Okay to eclampsia at bay, so it never comes at all… forget everything about giving tums, cottage cheese, cheese, icecream.. etc. It’s useless. The body needs the calcium to be delivered with the correct ratio of Vit D and Phosphorus or it doesn’t absorb it, it’s useless. Pet Cal has this correct ratio. Another thing that has it is, believe it or not.. a scrambled whole egg! Of course everyone knows not to start calcium until the litter is whelped.. no giving it to PG bitches… I do give some calsorb during whelping If things slow down on a larger litter, but never before whelping. Make it a general practice to scramble your bitch an egg every day, and depending on weight, give ½ to a whole pet tab per day. I gave it to a 8 lb bitch ½ in the morning ½ at night…this is the “daily dose” for about a 20 lb dog who was NOT nursing a litter…so just fine for ½ the size, but nursing a litter. I would grind up the pet tab in the food processor and put the powder in the egg when I scrambled it. Also, check your dog food for Soybeans, soy protein, or anything related to soy in any way. For SOME reason that is not completely understood by me (many menopause supplements contain soy, or are soy based, so this seems to be a contradiction).. soy protein can interfere with the absorption of calcium in dogs. If your food has soy of any sort, change to a food that does not for the duration of the weaning of the litter.

![]() So we took her to the vet, thinking there might be another pup. They did an xray, and there were no more pups. Vet did not want to do the clean out shot and thought maybe mom had eaten the placentas and we didn't see it. I'm not sure about this, but the only option she gave us was an ultrasound which is pretty expensive. So Gina opted to wait and see. Babies and mama are doing well, resting and nursing. I'm back home now, so pictures are uploaded. I will go resize them and put them on a new post. Thank you ,Mardelin, sooooo much for all your help. You are so generous with your vast knowledge. Gina and I both appreciate you. I feel the whelping went really well and we both learned alot. It was my third delivery (only one has been mine and we ended up with a C section)...and each time I feel like I learn a ton! deb

![]() thank you thank you carmen! I can't get my pictures to post. I think I have to download irfanview to resize. My old computer had it but not this one. PSE is not resizing properly, maybe? I'll get pics posted as soon as I can. deb
