The only thing that I can say is that the carriers that I know of and mine, all had white tipped feet (as well as other white)...but I am sure there can be exceptions to anything.

One of my girls has white on the top of her foot and on her chest. The other has a tiny spot on their chest. I just thought is was normal and would turn to gold later.

I get pups pretty often that have white on the chest and white tipped toes. I know they are not carriers. The white eventually goes away and turns to gold.

Oh wow how scary!!! So glad you got to her in time! I did not read thru the rest of the posts but was curious how many pups she had and if you were giving her any calcium daily since the pups were born.
I am just curious because I've never had this happen and I feel we as breeders can always learn, learn learn..I am a sponge when it comes to wanting to learn more! Makes me nervous when I read about these things since I just had a litter myself. Again I am glad she is better!

Well thank the lord above I heartburn last night. After 15 minutes of tossing and turning in the bed last night, I came down stairs for some milk, and I found Ellie in her box and she was as rigid as stone. I got her out of the box immediately, rushed her to the emergency vet. They said we got it just in time. They gave her IV with calcium, a shot for vomiting and then some extra IV fluids. The puppies are now 16 days old and she can no longer nurse them. I am feeding them with a bottle, equal parts goats milk and water. Ellie is doing much better, but she doesn't understand why she can't feed them. Any words of advice on a quick way to get her milk to dry up without getting mastitis? Everyone appreciated the bottle this morning with the exception of the largest one. He still wants the teat. I am going to try to put a little karo syrup on the nipple and see if he takes it.

Is it a good idea to get her spayed? She had a litter before and she developed matisis, other than that, she was fine. I'm so torn as this has never happened to her before. Any words of advice is greatly appreciated.

I was giving her 1/2 tab a day. She had 4 puppies. Her pre-pregnancy weight was 6lbs. She is now at 8.4lbs. I did find out that the puppy food I was giving her had soy. I am replacing it today and continuing to give her calicum tabs. I was also doing the whelping pudding, cottage cheese and yogurt.

I always give 1/2 calcium tablet in the am and 1/2 before bedtime, per my vet. I am glad you are getting her on a different dog food, that will make a big difference. Also, for a calcium supplement, I prefer the Doc Roy's Healthy Bones from Revival.

At 8.4 I'd be giving her a full tab a day.

My Izzy came to us with white (on her chin and chest) and hers did change to a really pretty gold, but Huck's remained and he did turn out to be a carrier.

yes, those are the ones I am using for Chanel, I ask my vet and he said to give her 1 1/2 a day. I am very happy i followed your advise, I was using the pet tabs ones but I like the healthy bones better, thank you for sharing that..

Oh wow ok. So it really can happen anytime. Thats scary. I give my girls whelping pudding, puppy food, and a whole DocRoys Healthy Bones pill each day.

How do your girls do with the DocRoys bones?? I had read that a few people on here use them (I think recommeded by BJH)...but with Livi being so picky, I didn't know if she would like them. It seems like everyone is having a great success with them, though.
