Per the YTCA Code of Conduct.

8) All puppies leaving the breeders possession will be a minimum of twelve (12) weeks of age to facilitate adequate socialization as well as appropriate emotional and temperament development through interaction with siblings, dam and other dogs.

This also allows the breeder enough time to administer a minimum of two vaccinations, deworming, vet check and ensure the pup is eating well on itsown.

They will not be ready to leave until they are 12 weeks old at the earliest. I am thinking that they will be Valentine's Day puppies.

10 weeks of age will not allow for that 2nd vaccine.......not allowing them to be properly socialized. 8 to 12 weeks mothers do so much teaching.....

I won't be advertising them until they are 10 weeks old. They won't leave until they are 12 weeks old. I start my first vaccine at 8 weeks. The second at 11 weeks.

I am sorry that Ellie ended up with Eclampsia. So happy to read that she is already feeling better, though!

I have a question though, even though I won't let them leave until they are 12 weeks old, why do people advertise on this forum at 10 weeks? Just curious.

Mary and Carmen, I want to thank you so much for your help this morning. I know that we can do this.

I don't even want to think about selling these puppies. It's going to be a long road until they are ready to go. My first priority is about Ellie and the puppies. So far everyone is nursing well with the bottle and doing very good. Ray, my DH, just called and said that everyone is still sleeping. He said that Ellie won't eat her dog food dry, she keeps trying to put it in the water. I told him to feed her some soft puppy food mixed in with her dry food. Was that the right thing to do?

You are allowed to advertise at 10 weeks of age. But, there are ways around that rule. What age "you" let your pups go, the forum has no control over that. This a public forum, not affiliated with YTCA or any other Kennel Club.

What a reputable breeder does is what is best for the pup.

YES, even if she eats soft can food alone, the important thing is go get her to eat.. I will feed my girls any type of dog food they want as long as they eat.. I don't even want to think about my pups leaving until the time comes...

I see. Well in all honesty, it is way too early to even think about letting these puppies go. I got to get them through this process first. If it were up to me, I would keep everyone of them. I am giving the smallest one to my mom though. She has always wanted a Yorkie, and now I have a chance to make her dream come true.

Remember, Ellie maybe feeling depression because she's away from her pups......Let her eat what she wants at this point...producing milk is not your concern at this point....just that she is obtaining nutrition.
