Well it seems like we ARE pregnant, my son palpate chanel yesterday and said that he can feel 3 or 4 lumps. I only can feel two..LOL so time to dust the whelping box and start getting ready..
I am so excited.. little silkie babies running around for xmas..

What makes a good whelping box and set up? Are they like cats where they want it dark...with a lid? Or just a box/container that has lots of blankets?

This is my whelping box, it worked wonders for my yorkie Jacks and their mom.. they were born in January it was cold and she loved it and I did too.. is plastic easy to clean, the bottom I kept a rugs for softness and a washable pad on top.. very handy.. and warm..

Oh that is a fantastic Idea! Now, the edges where you cut out the opening....is that not sharp? Did she snag on with her belly?

no my hubby filed the edge with a dremmel tool.. to make it rounded and smooth it was a mess of plastic on the deck but worth the cleanup.. you can also use sand paper but the dremmel tool is a lot faster..LOL , when the pupies started climbing out I just put the metal pen around it to keep them in...

That metal pen is cute! I've never seen anything like that . . .I also like the storage container idea . . .do you think the mama likes it better than say an under the bed storage container? I was just wondering if having a top on it made her feel more secure as well as keeping out any coldness . ..

thank you, I have never used the under the bed one, so I have no experience with that one, I know that Taffy liked this one and I am hoping that Chanel will too..

. the metal pen is cute and very convient to confine the puppies when they start moving around and mom can easely jump over to do her business out and then go back when she wants..
