| I'm a bit confused. So in order to do this, the dogs that were originally AKC would have had to have been sold with full registration, right? So, if the dogs were sold with limited registration, but registered as CKC and then bred...the offspring would NOT be registerable with AKC through this process, right? |

???? Because they found out the dogs came from AKC to begin with. So even if a dog is sold with limited registration and went to a different registry to register they can go back to AKC and get pups registered with AKC?????? Do I understand correctly?????

| OK, well that's a relief then. Of course, this brings up the question of how reliable AKC can be now given the fact that essentially, you could have generations that were unaccounted for, then suddenly registered with AKC again..... (I think.) What kind of precautions are put into place to guarantee that everything that is being turned over to them for the research is accurate information? |

| Wow, I truely didn't mean to open a can of worms. I'm sorry everyone. It was not my intention to do anything wrong. I purchased my puppies as CKC registered, didn't know any better. Then I found this new program with AKC. I thought that it would be great if my little guys were AKC lines, which I have found out that they are. I hope that AKC is doing all of the research necessary to ensure that only lines from AKC are being registered correctly.

I know there are breeders out there that might have AKC parents but register with CKC to avoid the risk of having to DNA test the parents or because they just don't want to deal with AKC.

BTW, they will do this service for free and then only charge $30 to anyone off the street. Not so for those who support AKC by breeding... after Hurricane Ike and my kennel flooded, they charged me a fee to research as they could not use my scanned images... Probably took 10 minutes since I supplied them with all the info.... and then charged me for the additional copies at a much higher rate than $30.

| So I have a question??? Say the dogs were sold as AKC limited from the original breeder but the new owners wanted to breed so they just filed for CKC registration and went ahead and bred the dogs. No papers were ever filed for the dogs in AKC because they would have been Limited. How would AKC ever know that? Am I missing something here? Cause if the dogs were registered full registration and the owners just didn't like AKC and went to CKC there would be no questions right and therefore no research needed? Maybe it is too late or early as the case may be in the morning for my brain to function!!!! Sorry but something here just doesn't sound right to me. ![]() I am confused!!!I don't understand what the part of 'the lines cannot be broken' really means. Obviously there would be a break in the lines if the dogs were registered with CKC somewhere along the line and not AKC. Sounds like a break to me!! |
