I prefer day 59-61 of 2nd breeding......just feel a bit more comfortable

I used the Pet-Cal tabs for years but then I discovered the Doc Roy's Healthy Bones sold by Revival and I much prefer them. I have been using them for a couple of years now. My females love the flavor of them. I give 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at bedtime. The Pet-Cal contains soy flour.

I wanted day 59 but my son is going on vacation and I really want him there that way she will not be too stressed out even tho she should known everyone there since my son works there,I want her to be as stress free as I can..LOL

DH even laughs and tells everyone that our MasterBedroom smells like an OR for the first few days after delivery!

LOL, well my dressing room doubles as the maternity ward.. as my family calls it.. that way I can keep an eye on my babies and mommy.. I don't have it in my bedroom because i have 3 others that sleep in my bedroom, so my dressing room is it...LOL I do set everything up closer to whelping and yes it even smells like the OR..LOL

I had two litters this last time; 48 hours apart.....had one set up in the guest room the other in my room. However, when they were 2 weeks of age, I left for dog shows in Dallas.....the one from the guest room had to be moved to my room so that hubby could monitor both litters and their mothers. So with the picnic table set up with supplies between the two whelping areas, it was pretty tight in there.

QUESTIONS:

Ok. She is within days of whelping. Now, what if she starts in the middle of the night....do they make ANY noises? She does sleep in my room but not in my bed for night. Any noise?

She hasn't gained weight in the past week though her belly got "harder"....is this of concern? She has gained about a pound and 4 ounces total so far.

Can I feed her as much as she wants to eat these last few days or will that cause major pup growth and whelp issues?

Frick, I am nervous, lol.

At times they do make noise, you'll hear digging or pacing. Other times they'll do it on their own......Just put your mother's ears on.

I know exactly how you are feeling right now. We are due anytime!!! A wise woman once told me to try very hard to be a calm as can be. She told me my girl will show me the way.
Tayah has not gained a whole bunch either. But then she is only having one maybe two.

Lord help me....i am so anxious I could pee myself, lol. It's been a long time of reading, watching, asking...and hopefully learning to get to this week. I believe I am ready with what is needed...but putting it all into real life is the true test. I really hope that my girl does well and comes out of this healthy and same with the pups..and me, lol.

I know how you feel too. I'm in the same boat. My Maya is due tomorrow, but today we were sure she was showing signs of pre-labor, which have since subsided. Her temp. is still below normal, now at 99.4 (earlier it was 98.9), but she's no longer restless or panting like before. So yeah, we thought it was happening but then it stopped. Ugh! lols So, it's definitely a waiting game. Tomorrow is Day 63- her "official" due date in my book, anyways. We're hoping to see pups at least by Sunday evening. This is exciting and nervewracking all at once. Good luck to you! I think you'll be great!!! :)

QUESTION:

I need a little mental visual....how many inches would you say a pup averages? How wide do you think they are? I have watched many a video but I still want to know what to expect.

Also, from the videos I see how the bubble sack comes out....how long can it be partially out before you feel it necessary to help it along....and how do you help without breaking that sack? Any info would be great. I am hoping my helper will be there but am preparing just in case I am alone.

Anywhere from an inch to three inches in length, dependent on the size of the pup....each is different. Width, it's dependent on each pup....average about an inch......These are just guesses......I've really never measured at birth, just weighed.

You'll have a bubble feltal sac (water bag) (sometimes) come firstj. If the dam breaks the sak and licks and stimulates the pup, that's fine! If she doesn't then you must interfere. You can use your heomostat to clamp about an inch from the puppy's belly and a 2nd hemostant one more inch down on the cord towards the vuva to keep the cord from going back in. Use dull scissors or your fingernails to cut the cord between the two hemostat, Feel for the puppy first and make sure that isn't just the bubble the comes first.

Just talked to the vet. They said that yesterday would have been day 63 from the LAST tie....which puts today at 64. They said I shouldn't worry and call on monday if she still hasn't had them. Does this make sense to you all?

First tie was Sept 11 and second tie on the 12th.

i just spoke to my mentor and she said tha she does not start worrying until day 67 from last tie,when progesterone(SP) test is not done.
