Ladies I need some Help PLEASE! Hi Breeders I have posted questisons for help before, and you are WONDERFUL at helping me out. I really need some advise. I have a male Yorkie and a female Yorkie. She is in Heat right now and I wanted to wait till the next heat cycle to breed her, she has had 3 litters in 3 years. I dont want to be a breeder that breeds her every heat cycle. She has had 2 litters in a row and I wanted this time for her to miss a pregnancy, BUT my male is going out of his mind! I have them separated BUT he is whinning all night and has not slept last night but maybe 1 hour, Me too! I do have 2 other females that are not in heat yet, I tried to have one of them stay with him for comfort but he just wants suki. I just got the other 2 females. One I wanted and the other one was bought for a friend that dont want her so now I have 3 females. Suki (the one in heat) and Mai-Tai the male have been together since they were puppies. What can I do to comfort him. Should I just let them at it again. She is upset too when he is upset. I thought you were suppose to give them a break between litters? Is 3 litters in 3 years too much? Any help would be greatly appreciated. He really needs some sleep and so do I. Last edited by Talk2mypaw; 08-26-2009 at 04:50 AM.

Is it possible that you can send him to a friends or relatives house while she is in heat? That's what I plan on doing when I want my female to have a break.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Yes, you should skip this heat. There's really nothing you can do to comfort the male other than sending him out of the house for three weeks.

Put some vick salve around her vulva or try some vanilla cake flavoring on the end of his nose. if you can put one or the other in another room it will help a lot. You need to sskip this heat for sure. Your girl has had enough litters for awhile. Good luck

Thank you for the advise. I will make sure that they stay separate. However we just moved to TN and we have noone that I can send him to. I have moved the girls down stairs to the play room and left him upstairs in the dog's bedroom. I have been checking on him and he is so tired from last night that he is only whimpering now. I feel bad for him. How long does the heat cycle last? I never really noticed before because they were hooking up right away.

Vick Salve and vanilla cake flavoring? that sounds worth a try. Where do I get the Vick salve? They are not together right now and he seems to be quite. I will leave him upstairs from now until the heat cycle is over. Does it last that long?

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | The whole heat cycle is about 21 days. The worse days are going to be between 9-14 (give or take a day or two) but they will need to be separated the entire time. It's tough on them, but it is what you have to do.

21 DAYS! Wow those poor dogs. So the worst is yet to come. She just went into heat yesterday, so I have a long road ahead of me and so do they. I hope that he does not think he is being punished and not want to breed when the other female goes into heat. I got her a few days ago, she is 2 years old and had a litter about 2 months ago. The lady that had her is very ill and cant take care of her any more. She is a very beautiful AKC Yorkie and I am hoping he will be o.k. and want to breed when she goes into heat?

the Vicks is in a blue jar at any grocery or drug store. it is what we rub on our own chests or babies for colds. Smells to high heaven. The vanilla should be pure and not imitation.

Yes we do have a petsmart and I will make it a point to go there today and get that for him. THANK YOU. I will also go and get the Vicks Vapor rub and the Vanilla. I do appreciate all the advise and help. I knew I could count on the breeders of Yorkie Talk for help. Again THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! Do you think it is o.k. to let them breed the next heat cycle? I would really like to get another litter of Suki''s and keep a female to continue the line. I know I have to get another male for her. I am not one to in line breed, They say the puppies are defective? Dont know if that is true, but dont want to take any chances. She does have Championship in her lines so I really want her lines to continue. Last edited by Talk2mypaw; 08-26-2009 at 06:29 AM.

Line breeding does not cause genetic diseases, you need to start with a healthy foundation from great lines. Curious, what lines is your girl from.
