| Thanks for that website. It looks as though she actually is in the beginning of her seventh week. Is it normal not to feel movement on a regular basis. I have not felt anything today It is hot here though and as I mentioned in earlier posts it is not a very big movement that I am seeing. I have not heard any heartbeats yet either. I hope I am not making to much of this but as I mentioned I did not plan on this and I just want everything to be ok. We have not had Lacey long but she is the sweetest little girl and we would be heart broken if anything were to happen to her. |

| keep her cool, too much heat can harm the puppies inside, remember, dogs overheat so easy. Once they start moving they keep moving. and by the last week they move a lot. I never heard heart beats, i read here 2 people that can, i am sure they are blessed with excellent hearing since neither of the vets i ever use can hear either. Good luck with your girl. Hope all goes well.

| Thanks!!! We have a fan on the floor and she frequently lies in front of it or she lies on the tile floor. I trimmed her belly this evening and she was so patient. I felt her belly harden (contraction?) but did not see much movement. She is eating more today and her belly is a little larger. |

| I really need help trying to pin down a date. Here is a series of events: impounded June 26 spay scheduled July 7 did not get spayed two different stories in heat and pregnant told mistake not pregnant July 8 given to a rescue group by mistake told them she was a male July 10 returned to animal shelter we picked her up from shelter July 11 Vet check said was healthy, in season expect 1 more week light watery pink July 25- Aug 2 took her on vacation to Idaho from Ca She was a trooper did great July 30 not eating well Aug 2-3 drive home threw up several times and would not eat her food Aug 4-12 or 13 She was very withdrawn and quite. Ate very little. laid around alt No signs of illness Aug 14 appetite increased Aug 15-16 noticed her belly was larger. Can still fill ribs and spine. Eats more and more clingy. Aug 19 temp 99.8 @ 9:25am 99.7 @ 2:18 pm Aug 20 temp 100.1 @ 9:21 am noticed a thick clear discharge Aug 21 temp 100.0 @ 9:20 am Aug 22 temp 99.5 @ 9:27 pm continued discharge and sleeping very hungry today. Larger belly. I saw her belly harden (contractions?) I am basing my dates as starting on July 8th. I have not noticed a lot of fetal movement or nesting behaviors other than she watches my every move. She seems to be running warm and will lie in front of the fan. Based on the pictures, dates of the events do you think I am close on dates or do you think she is farther along based on your experiences? |

| Woo. I would say she has to be due this week since you have had her since the 11th. If the rescue thought she was a boy they probably put her in with the boys...You may want to start taking her temp twice a day now and memorize Debbie Jensen's website lol.

| This morning lacey's temp was 99.5 at 7:30 so I took it again at 12:35 and it went up to 100.0. I am going to take it again tonight to see what is going on. I saw alot of movement today on both sides. This is the most I have seen. I am thinking maybe three- four pups. She has been really hungry and very clingy. |

She is definetely close. If you read the Merck veterinary manual, puppies can be born between 56 to 72 days of pregnancy, most being born at day 63, so even if you did know for sure you would have a window of uncertainty... My experience is that when the temperature starts to go up and down and up again is getting closed, it may go down to 98 , but not always. Usually they do not eat on the 12 hours prior , but i had 'porkers" eating 15 min before contracting. Hard bellies are contractions for sure. But again, similar to humans they can contract on and off for a few days, or just start progressing and then.. just pop them out. Well, Just wait and see. i hoped you would have taken her to have Xrays done already so you would stop guessing how many and how big. you can also see how they are positioned. well, time will tell now, and the more they move the closer to delivery it is. XOXO

| Hi All I just got back from the vets and had an x-ray. It appears she has three pups with the possibilty of 1-2 more. The babies are just starting to calcify which leads the vet to believe she is somewhere between 43-50 days or was just may have had poor nutrition prior to us getting her but most likly she is between 43-50 days. As of now the heads are really tint so she thinks she should be ok for delivery. So It seems she is about seven weeks along amybe starting the 8th? I did metiion her temp... the vet said that might be her norm andjust keeep on monitoring to see if anything changes. She will have us come back in a week to 2 weeks for a repeat x-ray at no extra charge. So it looks like she got pregnant either at the shelter or at that rescue HOW IRRESPONSIBLE of eiether agency to let this happen. The dog was in season and should have been kept separte. |

| No I have no idea what she may have bred with. I sure hope it is small and cute. when we picked her up from the animal shelter she was with a bunch of small dogs. Hopefully when she came in she was housed with small dogs or at least next to them. As far as the rescue I have no idea and when I asked the shelter when she was released which rescue had her and I will pick her up they said they were not able to give me that info. So I just have to pray it all wowrks out. I will tell you though it makes me sick to my stomach not knowing and the constant worry. |

| At which point should I start taking her temp twice a day? I am currently taking it 1x per day just to get a norm for her. She use to be real good about it but now she get very uncomfortable. Her temp still bounces around 99.7-100.1 range. She is so clingy and sits at my feet while I cook, wash dinner or while I sit at the computer. If I step outside she will wait by the door. I don't know if this is normal for her since we have had her as a pregnant mom. Her poor belly is getting so tight now. I can't believe the changes on a daily basis. Is it common for a smaller dog to have pups sooner than 63 days? or closer to 63 days? Do you think I should haave that repeat xray because as she gets closer to her due date won't that stress her out more let alone she would be more uncomfortable and is there any harm having more xrays? Sooo her due date is around Sept 8th that is in 14 days. I am getting butterflies just thinking about it!!!!! |

| Well, i just saw that you had Xrays done, usually they are pretty good to show you how far along. But between 43 and 50 days is a long range. Anything can happen after day 56, but they usually go into labor between 61 and 63, but even 72 days is normal. The worse possibility ever is that she may be carrying puppies from different fathers. hopefully since she had litters before you should be fine. Now, you mentioned irresponsibility???? That is beyond of what one would expect from an adoption agency. But , if they really were at no fault... good thing is that she has you. Thanks sooooo much for having the Xrays done. i was getting agonized . Now you at least have an idea. If some of the puppies are much older and some puppies are days younger, she may go into labor and have puppies that are to term and premies. Hopefully you will be fine. But i thought you should read a bit to have some idea if it happens. XOXO
