				 | Looking for breeder who does not dock tails I'm looking for a breeder who does not dock tails and who is within about 200 miles of Tulsa, Oklahoma. (I want my Yorkie to have a natural tail.) Thanks! |

				 | I imagine most breeders dock the tail since its the standard. If you want one undocked I would inquire about future litters and tell her you want a pup with an undocked tail. They dock them at just a few days old so I think that is the only way to go about it

				 | I agree... find a breeder in your area... visit the "future" parents and make arrangements to have your puppy intact... tails are done at 2 or 3 days old... so you need to make arrangements prior the litter is born. I would assume any breeder will require a non-refundable deposit ... since if you step back they will be left with a puppy that is off american standard and can not be docked latter...

| Donating YT 10K Club Member | I know a yorkie breeder who has a litter with undocked tails. Her dam was really ill the first few days after whelping and she didn't have the tails done. She lives in Texas though... http://www.roobearyorkies.net/home.cfm

				 | I heard that in Colorado, it is illegal for Vets to do any 'cosmetics' on pets now, so you may be able to find some breeders in CO that will be leaving tail I LOVE THE TAILS TOO |

				 | i don't think she shows tho. I know she had a male with a long tail she wanted me to show in UKC after I told her UKC now allows full tails. We never did work out a deal for me to show him tho. but that was awhile ago. she might be showing now but I don't think so. She probably has some pretty puppies tho. her name is Vicki. |

				 | I also love the tails and since they banned tail docking in SA, June has her tail. I must say, I prefer them with a tail. They have such pretty tails with the hair fanning out and the tail curving over the back, I don't know why they decided to dock the tails to begin with.

| YT Addict | Umm I don't know of one where you live but nataliesyorkies she is a really good breeder I have two yorkies from her. And I don't like the tails docked ether I only have my boy yorkies tail docked and that's because it was already done before I was able to say anything but that was a different breeder. But my two girls came from her and their tails are cute and long I love it that way they have something to wag I thing it looks better but that's just me. But I know she would be able to do that for you |

I've seen pics and videos (on youtube) of Yorkies from the UK and Germany with the full, natural tail, and it is gorgeous! I think that in the next five years, tail docking for cosmetic purposes will be banned in a many states here in the U.S. There currently is legislation pending in a few states, and the recent policy issued by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) will encourage more legislation. The official policy of the AVMA (available on their website) and revised November 2008 is that the "AVMA opposes ear cropping and tail docking of dogs when done solely for cosmetic purposes. The AVMA encourages the elimination of ear cropping and tail docking from breed standards." | |
