| False pregnancy or Not??? Would love to know from experienced breeders what the best way of knowing if your yorkies are pregnant or not?? Have a vets visit tonight. Can you always feel puppies moving when pregnant? Can you always hear heart beats?

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I'm not an "experienced" breeder, but without seeing your vet it's a guessing game for a while. Signs are vulva staying somewhat swollen, nipples staying prominent, a filling out or firmness on the belly area. Some say they are more needy or loving, also may have appetite loss or vomiting in about the 3rd or 4th week. But still, you're just guessing. Between 28-32 days along is when you can take her in to the vet & have them palpitate her abdomen to determine for sure if she is pregnant so that you can quit playing the guessing game and know for sure. How do I know all of this? Well I had one litter a couple of years ago & have been reading up on it all the time. Also, I am playing that guessing game right now too with my girl. You have a vet appointment today? Good for you, hope you get the news you want to hear. How long has it been since she's been bred? You won't detect movement from the pups until the last week or two. Heartbeats....maybe a little sooner? Someone else may be able to answer that question more accurately for you.

| I just went thru a false preg with my Shih Tzu female in JAn. She did everything a pregnant female would. Gained weight even heard heartbeats, labour, produced milk... everything. but no puppies. Then all the sudden got skinner after the labout part and I took her to the vet when she wasn't having any pups and they did an xray and No puppies... |

I was so excited and had everything prepared but no puppies came. Her belly looks like it got smaller but of course because an xray wasn't done I'm still hoping that there might be a slim chance that she is having at least one small baby. I will still monitor her for the next few weeks just in case. However I must accept the facts. So sad but what meant to be will be...

| yes I am on your FB.LOL. The only way to know for sure if she is not is to do an xray or blood test. How far do you think she is? |
