You will have to do whatever she's not doing. Poor thing, she must be exhausted...you too! |

The cord is still on the first one? You'll need to cut the cord if she didn't do it. If it's doing okay, and not nursing, it should be on the warming pad. |
Can someone get you a safety scissors and some dental floss? You might have to do it yourself. You should cut it around 2 inches from the puppies belly then tie it off with some floss . . . Are both boys doing good? Don't forget to give a little more ice cream to Sadie . . how is she holding up? See anymore coming? |
Do you have any whelping supplies at all? if you do, clamp hemostats about an inch and a half from the puppy and cut the cord on the mamaa side of them. use your fingernail to flay the cord out and it won't bleed as much. You can even use your fingernail to cut the cord in place of scissors if ou don't have any. Tie dental floss the same way i told you to use the hempstats. as you use your fingernails, it kind of seals off the cord. Did I miss it, haw many pups are in her? |
Dee, Sadie is having 4 pups .. .2 little boys are already out .. .but she hasn't cut any cords yet . . .Seems Sadie is a little bit lax about doing it . . also, she wasn't sure that any placentas came out . . . |
the hospital told me to use sewing thread. as soon as my husband get back with the ice cream i hope i can do this. there isn't much room for me to cut second pup, hes real closely attached still |
Don't worry, you'll be able to do it . . .is the 3rd one on the way? |
im confused talking to so many. i posted my phone number OMG. both cords are still attached, second pup is very close to mom. both appear to be ok, their on a heating blanket with mom. i have to get these cords cut. |

I'm sorry; I know it's confusing. So, both babies are still attached to the cords, and the cords are still attached to the placentas, which are inside mom? So the babies are really close to mom? |
Listen, don't freak out, ok? You are doing great . . .take a few deep breaths . . .there are people on here that are experienced trying to help. Don't go into panic mode . . .you'll be able to cut the cords and everything will be fine . . .just listen to what they are telling you . . .ok? Deep breaths!! :D |
You can just tear the cords with you fingernails. I like to leave about 1/4 of an inch. If you leave it too long the momma will keep biting at it. |
I'm sure you're a bit too busy to be posting, but I have been wondering how things are going. ;) |
Sugar's Mom called her and she was able to get her to tie off the two cords, but Sadie had stopped labor and she was going to get her to to vet to deliver the other two puppies . . . So we'll be waiting to hear . . . |
