It is very very hard to let them go and even harder I think on the ones you get so attached to by bottle feeding and caring more for. sounds like you did every thing right in trying to find him his perfect home. I would want pictures and updates on my pups too. I know I send the breeders updates for my dogs all the time. Im happy to do it. I wouldn't let him go cheap. Im not saying he would have a wonderful home with some one with less money. because I know many many people that don't have much money and their dogs are their babys and they would do any thing they had to for the care of their dogs. but its always nice to know that some one had a little stashed away just in case its needed. I don't like selling on the internet at all unless its someone close that I can meet or do home visits. You just never know when one is being truthful on the internet. I hope you find a wonderful forever loving home for your baby.

I guess I am not much help as I went through something similar.

My first litter we had 3 pups. 2 girls and a boy. I fell in love with the bigger girl the second she was born so I knew I was keeping her. But I hadn't planned on keeping the boy as well but when it came time to let him go I couldn't. Although it was very hard to let the other girl go I couldn't be happier with the decision as she has the most wonderful home ever where she is spoiled and loved.

This last litter we had 4 pups. 2 boys and 2 girls. Out of the 4 there was one girl who was much smaller than the rest of them. I had several people interested in her but I just couldn't seem to find anyone that would suit her or match all my requirements. She was tiny after all. By that time I realized I couldn't let her go, I had fallen in love with her and she was already in the best home where I knew she would be loved and spoiled. I couldn't be happier with my decision to keep her. I know now that had I let her go I would have regret it.

If I keep this up though I won't be able to continue breeding, lol. It is very hard not getting attached to them.

I would not let my puppies go for too little because (1) I want people to know and understand they are valuable, (2) if they can't afford a fair price, they probably can't afford good medical care, quality food, and the type of care a Yorkie needs (3) If some people do not have enough invested, I think it is too easy to think of them as disposable and wind up dropping them at a shelter the first time they are inconvenient.

I too, had the worst time letting mine go. My first litter all went to family and a friend. I was deeply in the hole on that one. The next litter, I actually sold two of them to people I did not previously know. I was very nervous, felt like I was treating them like merchandise, and cried like a baby. With family and friends, you get to see them from time to time and it is not so bad. But when they go to strangers, you just cannot be sure! I have talked with both of them recently and they are doing really well, spoiling them as they deserve. I knew they would by meeting them. The one lady had already bought everything a puppy could need or want before she got to pick him up. I delivered one after her last shots so I got to see she was going to a beautiful home. But still, you feel sort of guilty for selling them. I wound up keeping the last boy, mostly because I just did not want to go through it again. He's a character and I am not sorry. He was the biggest of the bunch, although not huge or anything. But being a little sturdier has worked well so he could dive right in rough-housing with my male Yorkie Ben and our Jack Russell.

I know what you mean about your little one. I had to hand raise all five of mine as my sweet girl was lost the third day after their birth. That creates such a bond, it is hard to part with any of them. I wish I could have kept all five, but that would just not have worked well for any of us. Better that they get more individualized treatment in new homes.

I have made no money with the two litters combined. After losing my girl, I don't know if I will ever do it again. But I think people who lean so far as to say no one should breed and we should all get shelter dogs are too one way for me. I wanted Yorkies -- not dogs that sort of looked like a yorkie but real, honest to goodness, meet the standard yorkies. To get those, you need to go to a breeder. I may not ever breed again, but I want someone to do it! I always want at least two of them myself. Maybe more!

He is a doll and I love that name! How cute! I kept the last one at home, also the biggest male. Funny thing, he was the smallest at birth, but by the 10th day, he was the biggest and stayed that way all the way through. My little guy's name is Rocky Blue.

You all have provided great advice and similar stories. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I will post the little guy on this site under the yorkies for sale section.
I've decided that if I can't let him go feeling at least a little good about it - meaning a great & loving family, that can afford him, that lives nearby - then we will just keep him! Which I, of course, have no problems with!! ;-)
I will post an update as soon as we figure out who is going to be his forever family. If he goes... I'm going to cry my eyes out so I'll be coming back to good ol YT for some more support haha.

It is always hard to make sure we are doing the right thing....for the right family, for the right dog. If I can't find the right home for a puppy, I'd speak to my friends, and former buyers for referrals. One of my friends places her hard to place dogs with seniors who want lap dogs and service dogs. Yorkies ride really well on a walker or a scooter.
