I am patiently tapping my fingers.....sigh, and I don't want to head to bed and watch TV until I know her first one came.

| Ok, so about 6 pushes in the last half hour or so and no sign of bulge yet. Is this a bad sign or still ok?

Give her a little bit more time. Is this her first litter? Usually when it's just about there the pushes stay longer. She might even get up and turn around a few times. Almost like, hey what's going on back there?? Last edited by Jemma; 06-07-2009 at 06:02 PM.

If it were me, I would call the vet's office that is on call. Let them know what's going on. Get their opinion. What does everyone else think?

We have to give mother nature a little time. Remember, there was a time many moons ago when it was just dogs and mother nature. They still have that instinct.

I wouldn't panic yet.. 1st litter, and probably breach. They just take longer to move down the canal.

It's been a little while since we heard from the OP. Maybe she is cleaning up the first little one. I have my fingers crossed.

I would give her a little Nutri-cal and relax. She has not been pushing hard for a hour, she is just having contractions and working the baby down. Once the contractions are close together and hard then you worry if it goes on more than an hour. Also, watch her discharge. If you start seeing blood then I would be concerned.

Through our PMs I know you don't have KY.. Is there a store close that hubby could run for some? If you have a 3cc syringe (without needle.. lol) and fill it with KY. You can insert it and lube her birth canal.. it helps a lot. Did you give her an exam?

| Ok, the contractions are about 6-8 minutes apart. There is no panting or very heavy breathing. Hasn't been yet. The most has been during a contraction or two she breathed a little faster with a little noise in there. But no panting. I had a hard time getting the exam as I got about 1 inch in she had a contraction and acted like I was really hurting her so I stopped. There is really NO discharge other than a very slight amount of clear which looks more mucosy than watery.
