Is anyone else sitting here hitting the refresh button every couple of minutes?:eyeballpc:lol tears |
pushing doesn't seem to be on a reg schedule or anything just randonly here and there. She is still quiet... |
I am. I am sitting here working on Gruffle balls for my dogs while I wait. It's better than sitting here and wondering. I am doing my best to find out if we have puppies yet. |

Did you call the vet's office and give them a heads up? If not, you may want to call them and let them know what's going on. If anything was to happen, then they can be prepared. Just a thought.... |
some big pushes now and no sign of the bulge yet. about how long should she push before we see a bulge. I really do not trust this emergency vet and so do not want to take her there. He did 2 hours to bring her then. Come on honey, let's do this without him! :aimeeyork |
will do it now... |

Okay, she had her first pushes at 9:02, and now the big ones at 9:25. I would say by 10:25 if no puppy we need to get her to the vet right away. Gruffle ball is a ball made out of yarn. The puppies love them. They like them better than the store bought toys. Ellie and I are right here waiting for the first puppy. |
I got a recording that gave the office hours and said then if this is an emergency push 1. I think I will wait a litte bit and see how we are going to do. We have a half hour drive once we leave so they will have time to prepare if I call shortly before we go. |
Well well well ? Push, darn it, push!!!! |
Do we have our first born yet??:cup: |
A breach may take longer on the 1st baby, but I use the 1 hour rule too. |
no push at 9:25, 9:30, 9:39... haven t really seen much in the way of more clear liquid and not much of a bulge yet. |
I am patiently tapping my fingers.....sigh, and I don't want to head to bed and watch TV until I know her first one came. |
Hoping and praying for safe deliveries. Come on little one you can do it. |
Ok, so about 6 pushes in the last half hour or so and no sign of bulge yet. Is this a bad sign or still ok? |
good luck, I have been watching |
Give her a little bit more time. Is this her first litter? Usually when it's just about there the pushes stay longer. She might even get up and turn around a few times. Almost like, hey what's going on back there?? |
If it were me, I would call the vet's office that is on call. Let them know what's going on. Get their opinion. What does everyone else think? |
According to the posts, 10:25 will be the 1 hour period. |
We have to give mother nature a little time. Remember, there was a time many moons ago when it was just dogs and mother nature. They still have that instinct. |
I wouldn't panic yet.. 1st litter, and probably breach. They just take longer to move down the canal. |
It's been a little while since we heard from the OP. Maybe she is cleaning up the first little one. I have my fingers crossed. |
I would give her a little Nutri-cal and relax. She has not been pushing hard for a hour, she is just having contractions and working the baby down. Once the contractions are close together and hard then you worry if it goes on more than an hour. Also, watch her discharge. If you start seeing blood then I would be concerned. |
Through our PMs I know you don't have KY.. Is there a store close that hubby could run for some? If you have a 3cc syringe (without needle.. lol) and fill it with KY. You can insert it and lube her birth canal.. it helps a lot. Did you give her an exam? |

I am so excited, yet hopeful and praying that Honey will be safe and not struggle too much. Hang in there Mama..You've been doing a great job so far! :) I need to go nite-nite soon, 5:00am will come too soon. I will check in first thing in the AM. Good Luck!!! ~Kathy  |
Ok, the contractions are about 6-8 minutes apart. There is no panting or very heavy breathing. Hasn't been yet. The most has been during a contraction or two she breathed a little faster with a little noise in there. But no panting. I had a hard time getting the exam as I got about 1 inch in she had a contraction and acted like I was really hurting her so I stopped. There is really NO discharge other than a very slight amount of clear which looks more mucosy than watery. |
