Thanks everyone for your sweet words about our Devin. Honey is still holding tonight and I just stay worried. :xfingers: Her temp at 11:00 this morning was 98.9 but is now up to 100.4. I don't know how long it stayed there though since the one before it was last night and the one after it was at 3:00 which was 99.7. So not sure if it was just that one time or if it was there for a while. She did seem a little swollen earlier but not so much now. All she does is sleep, sleep sleep and she is still eating good. Her breathing while asleep seems slightly fast but could just be due to her enormous size. ;) Just watching and I will sleep out out here in the family room where her playpen is tonight. Poor thing doesn't do a lot of anything that requires moving around including cleaning herself or nesting. She will scratch at the bedding just long enough to get comfortable then she is done. I hope she goes soon, though it would be nice if it were Monday when my vet is open. :) They are open tomorrow morning from 9:00-12:00 so she has a short window there! ;) Will keep you all posted on her every development. ;) |
My heart goes out to you and your family, I am so sorry for your loss. And accidents happen ~Prayers are with you for a safe whelp and if you need anything I am here also ~ Shawn |
It does take a load off knowing that you all are here if I need you, thank you. Honey is just holding today. Her temps so far today have been 99.9 and 99.7 I will take again sometime tonight. Other than that she just seems misserable but otherwise but nothing else seems to be going on yet. Today is day 60. Every day longer she goes the more I worry they are too big for her to deliver. I'll be back with more news... |
1 Attachment(s) I just found this pic I think my daughter took it is dated the 2nd so 4 days ago. |
I too, am so sorry for the loss of your grandson. I also am anxiously awaiting the results of your whelping...please keep us posted. Hope everything goes well. Mom to Muffin:animal-pa |
Oh my, that poor baby is ready to pop. I bet she has at least 4 puppies, maybe even more. I pray she will be okay. Are you feeling lots of movement all over her belly? |
I know, I am so scared for her! I can feel them sides and front from her ribs all the way down. We saw 4 heads for sure on xray and maybe even possibly 2 more spines that we couldn't see heads for. I am praying hard for her to get this done and over with as safely as possible. :aimeeyork |
OMG! She is huge! Her little head is just peering out! I too want to share my condolences with you. What a beautiful little boy! You and your family are in my heart tonight! Good luck on your whelping.. it looks like and sounds like it will be at any moment! You can get ahold of me too (phone) if you need. pm for number. I am in pa so can't come out but I can help talk you through it if you need an additional mouth. :p I can't wait to see how many she has in that belly! |
Thanks to all of you that have offered phone numbers, you are all too kind. I havn't PMed anyone yet for thier number so if you have offered and want to PM it to me that would be great. I am just worried though that she will go in the wee hours of the morning and I would feel horrible calling people at that time but would if I really needed to. ;) I just took her temp again and it was 98.7 but we were there yesterday morning as well and it just went back up so I don't think I am holding too much on this temp thing with her. I gave her a bath several days ago and she really needs another one so I am going to give her a quick one in the morning if she is still the same as she is now. Thanks again to everyone for your condolences, they mean a lot and for all the offers of help, I hope I won't need it but it feels good just to have this thread here. :) :aimeeyork |
What a sweet little girl! She looks like my girl that showed 5 puppies on the xray and had 7. In the last picture they still looked a little high, but it may just be the angle of the shot. I like to see the temp drop to around 98.2 or close to it, because then I'm pretty sure we are on our way. I am so sorry about your grandson. Wishing you a safe and fast whelp. |
I have never whelped a Yorkie litter. I lost my son 7 years ago. I know what you are feeling. He IS beautiful. His pictures ARE gorgeous!! There is no such word as "was" right? He IS with you and always will be. Never past, always present. When it comes time for his birthday, today is Devin's birthday, not would have been. Oh honey I feel so bad for you, and I know your daughter is even worse off than you. If I can be of any help during your mourning process, know I'm here for you or your daughter. I'm just sorry I can't help with your whelping. I only bred Goldens and they are such a different breed. I'm sending many hugs of comfort to you and your family. Carol and Jemma |
what a preicous little angel face i am so sorry for your loss hoping your furbaby has a safe whelp Betty & Micah my love:aimeeyork |
OMG, that is a big belly! I'd guess at least 5 pups. With those low temps I'd also guess she is about ready to go........if she hasn't already during the night. I'm still thinking about the both of you and praying that all goes well. I'll surely check back later today for any news. |
I was just checking in to see how things are going. I finally gave up on the temp thing because Ellie & I both were getting tired of it. She just acted way off when it was her day. She layed around, wouldn't do much activity wise, but still continued to eat right up until it was time to deliver. I put her in the whelping box to go to bed around 10, and then I went to bed around 11:30. At midnight she started nesting and didn't start panting until 15 minutes before she delivered. I am continuing to pray that everything goes well. |
I don't think I've ever seen such a big Yorkie belly. I hope she delivers soon -- I'll be watching this thread very closely today :D . And if you need to talk, you can call me anytime 24/7. |
I just now saw the newest pic of your little Mommy!! BLESS her heart!!!! and your s too. I cant even imagine how scary this is for you. I am still keeping my fingers crossed and now even my toes for a safe whelp! Looking forward to hearing the good news of how many new pups and that all are doing well including you:animal36! |
Just checking in to see how she is doing this morning. She looks like she is going to have 4 + pups. Hope everything goes smooth with the whelping. |
I think we are on our way! Thanks everyone! I think we are on our way as we definately have nesting going on and throwing up bile. I have not been 100% happy with my whelping box set up as I am afraid the babies will get chilled. I was going to go to the stor and get her a storage container so they won't get draft but ow am not sure if I should move everything. What do you all think. I know the way it is I will have a challange keeping the babies warm. :aimeeyork |
Oh boy PUPPIES!!!!! If she is happy, I wouldn't disturb her -- I would wait until the whelping is over, you are sure that everyone is healthy, well nursed and content, and then you can fuss over the whelping box. If you give her some extra blankets she will make a nest and keep the pups warm with her body heat until you can decide what you want to do. Let's get this show on the road!!!!! :D:D:D |

1 Attachment(s) Sounds like it not going to be to long now. You can go ahead and let her whelp with what you have and after pups are here then get a warmer box. I bought the totes with the lids and cut a hole in the front for mom to go in and out. They seem to stay warmer and no drafts. I can just lift the lid to peek in on the babies. Here is one mine ....They like to sleep in them too. |
ahhh I cant wait to hear how it goes!! good Luck!!! |
I love that pic with your little girl looking out of the box! Too cute. I do have the heating pad and everything ready to go but because it is so hot hear the air is always on and it is drafty in this room so I am worried. I can make it warmer but if I can keep them out of the draft and still be able to keep the air going it would be better all around I think. She's quiet right now. A little nesting here and there but lots of laying and just looking pitifull. I have closed the doors to the family room to keep it quiet and keep the other 2 out and make sure she doesn't get riled. I think after a while I will take her out of the pen and set us up on the couch and automen to wait it out. |
You can run the a/c with no problem. As long as you don't make it freezing cold they will be find. They will huddle with each other and the mom. I keep the room temperature around 75 to 76 degrees. I put the whelping box in a x-pen and hang sheets over the sides of the x-pen to keep any breeze out. |

It's just one of the box totes he like to sleep and play in..;) |
Well it sure sounds like she's on her way maybe. Do we dare hope for a day whelp.....we can hope.:xfingers::) I'm home for the rest of the day, so I sure will stay tuned to this thread. I hope she starts soon and gets through the whelp trouble free. Prayers :hands: still coming your way. Agreed....if you've got the heating pad, for sure that will be fine in giving the pups some added warmth. If you are still concerned due to the AC being on, then the sheet draped over the area suggested by bjh is a great added option. I'll have to remember that one myself. |
Well, hmmm, let's see. I'm gonna bet she has 6 going on in there. Possible 7. Am I nuts, lol. Anyway, that's my thoughts. Carol and Jemma |
Just checking in.. Sounds like it may be day 61. Good luck and let us know if we can help. |
