| Waiting lists I'm looking for opinions on waiting lists. Do people have waiting lists on their site for people to sign up on? Or do you only write a name down if a person requests a puppy from a certain litter? Thank You |

| no one gets one of my babies without filling out an application. If I approve the application and don't have anything available I tell them I will put them on a list. Then I put it in my 'puppy application file" they usually will want one from any litter I have. trouble with waiting list is that in my case, I haven't had puppies for a year and some people got tired of waiting. i emailed several from the applications I have one file and the ones that responded have purchased elsewhere and cheaper. So I have one baby girl now that I am going to have to advertise when she is a little older or "keep Her". to show |

| I have had so many calls lately where people are asking how much it cost to be added to my waiting list. I can't imagine getting a deposit on a puppy that isn't born or even a puppy that is only 1 week old. What if something happens to the puppy or you never get what they want? |

I STRONGLY disagree with people taking deposits on pups that are not even born or expected litters but I see it all the time. I usually wait until about five weeks or sometimes longer to advertise mine. I have advertised the girl i have now on my website but no where else. i will do that next week and be ready for a deposit on her. i would be scared to death to take a deposit on a pup not yet born. Even those as you say, one week old, anything could happen.

I'm not a breeder, but just someone who looks for qualities in a great breeder. I agree with your stance on this. I personally would recommend anyone staying away from breeders, who took deposits to be put on a "waiting list".

I always have people in our area contacting me about babies. I currently have three people on a waiting list, and two of them wanted to place a deposit already. I don't take deposits till 8 weeks old after I have had them all vet checked and priced. I have the litters listed on my website with weekly pictures and send individual pictures of the pups to those whom are on my waiting list. I wait till 8 weeks old for deposits for a couple of reasons. 1st I want to make sure that my babies are completely healthy before they are made available, 2nd I don't like someone to just pick a baby, I want them to come out and meet all that are available and choose the one that seems to bond with them. To be placed on our waiting list one must fill out a puppy application. I have had several people never get back to me once I have sent them my application. I guess I get to personal, but I care who is going to be raising my babies.

YT Addict | I take names and numbers down when the puppies is old even to show I than call everyone on the list and make appointments to show them, (in the order they are on my list) I have had people try to pay more to get frist pick but I go by my list only. At the showing which is most the time around 5 weeks old, I will take deposits to hold the puppy until he/she is readly to go. I would never take a deposit before a puppy was born or even when they are to young, no breeder can know the health of a puppy before it is born or even 2 -3 weeks old. |

| I neither agree nor disagree with this but there are many breeders (generally those with the nicest lines) that do take deposits during a breeding of a certain female, and/or while the female is pregnant. MOST return a deposit if the female does not have any of the particular sex/size requested. Some will only transfer to another/future litter. I have been on the Buyer side of that situation. The breeder had taken 2 female and 2 male deposits, she had 3 females. The male deposits were immediately returned and the female deposits were not. I would not personally do business this way, simply because it would be much too confusing for me to keep up with puppies that hadn't arrived yet.
