| Well, Rosie had all of her pups and they are all doing great at this time. About 8:50 p.m., my hubby said to me that he thought Rosie was drinking her own milk(her water had broke), she got up and bolted for her whelping box. She was pushing the first out in no time. She had her first 2 pretty much back to back and I thought this would be super fast and easy. Then she waited 3 hours and 40 minutes to even begin showing signs of trying to have another. By this time it was 1:20 (whelp started at 9:00) and I called Michigan state Universities Emergency-vet center for advise. So after that one finally came we ended up waiting another 5 hours or so and by that time I thought something had to be wrong, so we packed her and her 3 babies up, warmed up my car and was waliking out the door to travel to the only e-r vet around, it was going to be a 40 mile drive. I had her basket in my hands, hat and coat on and she popped out the 4th. That little one was out not even enough to see the umbilical cord when the 5th came to! So I had 2 babies sticking out of mom, and they were still attached inside. We have one runt, he is only 2.4 oz., the others are 3.3, 3.6, 3.9, and 3.9 oz. Four boys and only one little girl (last one out) This whelping lasted from 9:00 till 6:45, I was really concerned at one point. SHe held out so long I just wasn't prepared for it, i feel so fortunate to have all 5 puppies healthy and eating right now, after that seriously long wait in the quiet darkness of night, i surely thought we would have a tradgedy on our hands. So, I am taking a shower and going to go lay down for a few hours. I will post pics as soon as I get up. Thanks you guys for being there for me when I needed you. And please overlook all my spelling errors, I am reallt tires. (really tired) P.S. We still are missing one placenta, so any advise you have I'd love to hear it. Goodnight for a few hours

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Oh Melissa, I am so glad to hear that all the babies arrived safe and sound. Wow, wonder if that is the longest whelp on record!! I would have been worried too. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! With a possible missing placenta, definitely want to take her in to be checked and "cleaned out", though Rosie may have eaten it without your knowledge. Also, with 5 babies and the last one being so tiny, you might want to make sure he gets some extra or alone time on mama's teats. Sounds like he's got some catching up to do with his siblings.

| Thanks guys! I think it may have been the longest whelp on record! I will call the vet today and see what they think. She is doing such a wonderful job w/ them I barely could get her outside for a potty break. All the little ones have gained weight since they were born already. She went out and pooped a very dark green soft poo, I imagine that is from eating the placentas? She is shivering a bit but not too bad. and she also ate 2 small bowls of whelping pudding since I woke up. I will call a vet and see what they think about that placenta. I will keep you guys updated. The loudest guy in the pack since the moment he was born is that little runt, he has a lot of energy. Thanks for all the support, it means a lot to me.

| Pictures Here's the new gang. I hopefully can get some better ones when things get a little more back to normal. I talked to the vet and we have decided Rosie is doing great for the time being.
