My own opinion is not to do anything yet about the placenta. Pups nursing make Mommy have uterine contractions. So seeing green gunk from their little you know what, is normal. All caused by contractions from the little ones nursing. By tomorrow if you are still that uncomfortable, bring her over to the vet and he'll give her some oxytocin. It usually can be given to a bitch when whelping is done. Kinda like a clean out. I always have it on hand, well had it on hand when I was breeding Goldens. Keep us posted. So she did have a little one hiding in there. There could even be one more. Don't freak out now, I said maybe, lol

| I would take her temp to make sure there is no infection starting, you said you were unsure about all the placentas? If her temp gets high, she could have an infection starting and the sooner you deal with that the better. Do it rectally and a helping hand is WAY easier.

her temp is 39.1 i think they have a higher temp in eve compared with morn. it shouldnot be higher than 39.3 so i will check again in morning. She remains panting but she sat on her heat mat, she ok while she leaves them for a few seconds to go toilet. she not ate much today she enjoys the whelp pudding, i read an article which said you should not give calcium even when had pups has it tricks the body in thinking it a large supply and uses double caused by negative feedback in the body, now i am all confused and upset i not know what to give her, i only want to do the best for her

I feel that the mommas definitely need extra calcium after whelping. I give mine 1/2 a calcium pill twice a day. Often it is necessary to hand feed the mommas after they have pups. They need plenty of food and water so they can produce milk. The heating pad should only cover 1/2 the whelping box so the momma and the puppies can get off of it if they get to hot. If the pups get too hot they can get dehydrated. I use a heating pad that keeps the temperature at 100 degrees.

Sorry, but I can help with the whelping pudding question because I never use it. Mine mommas are good eaters so I just give them plenty of good quality puppy food.

How's the pups? Don't worry so much about her eating. She had the placenta's which is suppose to be good for them, yuck. I didn't want to eat after I had my baby. And I only had one! lol
