Misty, Agreed, we are all passionate about the care of the yorkie world and most all of us allow our passion get in the way of being rational. I know I've done that more often than not. There have been times I've wanted to put my hand through the screen and grab someone around the throat. I remember one night such as that, someone came on here (newbie) asking about breeding their dogs as it was happening, or soon to happen, couldn't figure out how to get them to breed. Some of us were quietely explaining the ramifications of breeding without doing all the proper preliminary work, etc., we were starting to make headway. Someone else came on ranting, the original poster, shut down and signed off, never came back on. During this whole typing conversation I was so angry and it was difficult to control my temper.

| ![]() Thanks Ann...as always, you are the calming voice of reason. ![]() Mardelin--Ah, don't I know it...it's been a while, but I remember some of those instances you describe very well. I know I've been on some of those same threads with you and know all to well how frustrating things can get. To the OP...best of luck to you and your friend in getting this situation all sorted out. I hope that you are able to deduct information from this thread that will enable her to make wise, informed decisions regarding her girl. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 03-12-2009 at 07:59 AM. |

She could be eating it because there is something lacking in her diet. Is she on a quality food? You may want to try feeding her a bit of fresh pineapple. Something about feeding it to them makes the poo very unappealing. (Plus, it's a yummy, healthy treat for them. ![]() Try to remove any poopies from the yard/house ASAP and try to watch her and correct her as soon as she shows interest in it. Be persistant and patient. | |

In the words of my Vet, you know why they do it? Because they like it. I usually have this problem with my females. But, if you study canine behavior.....it's very natural, most do it because they want to keep their den clean, keeping the scent away from preditors, especially females, as we all know diaper their babies. Another thing you might try is a bit of Accent on their food, it renders the waste distasteful, and picking it up as soon as they go.

As for the dog having 4 more female pups that make me sick to think what they will be doing in about a year. This is totally irresponsible pet ownership. If this dog is from a rescue as you say, she is not even AKC registered, nothing is known about the background of this dog and she is breeding her AGAIN. Once is an oops~twice is wrong and yes adding to the problem of 10,000,000 PTS each year. After reading all of your update on your "friend" I hope you are on line with her right now and make her aware of all of the controversy that has arisen from your original post. Maybe she will then return that female to the rescue that she originally came from . Better yet, have her turn her over to a good rescue and allow then to find her a wonderful home that will treat her as a PET and not a breeding machine. ![]()
