My post was merely meant to explain to you what the more trained eyes were picking up on so that you would understand. In addition, I mentioned things that your friend had obviously not considered as well as how she should continue to educate herself on breeding if she plans to continue, as you stated she does.

I think that many of the things she did so far WERE responsible--taking time off to stay with the pups, for example--other, maybe not so much. There is always rooom for improvement, but how would anyone ever know if the advice was not offered and you were not given a different perspective?

Obviously I have greatly offended you as you have been reduced to quite rudely insulting me. For that I apologize....but, I can assure you, I've been called worse. I think that everyone here truly has concern over the best interest of your friend's little one FIRST, and yours and her feelings just come second. (Based of the information that you have given, in my honest opinion, it would be in the best interest of the dogs if the female were not bred again.) Sorry. But it is a Yorkie forum...that's the way it's suppose to be.

Misty,

Agreed, we are all passionate about the care of the yorkie world and most all of us allow our passion get in the way of being rational. I know I've done that more often than not. There have been times I've wanted to put my hand through the screen and grab someone around the throat.

I remember one night such as that, someone came on here (newbie) asking about breeding their dogs as it was happening, or soon to happen, couldn't figure out how to get them to breed. Some of us were quietely explaining the ramifications of breeding without doing all the proper preliminary work, etc., we were starting to make headway. Someone else came on ranting, the original poster, shut down and signed off, never came back on. During this whole typing conversation I was so angry and it was difficult to control my temper.

Thanks Ann...as always, you are the calming voice of reason.

Mardelin--Ah, don't I know it...it's been a while, but I remember some of those instances you describe very well. I know I've been on some of those same threads with you and know all to well how frustrating things can get.

To the OP...best of luck to you and your friend in getting this situation all sorted out. I hope that you are able to deduct information from this thread that will enable her to make wise, informed decisions regarding her girl.

I want to apologize for being rude, it just frustrated me that it turned into my friend not being responsible. I think that she is responsible just not knowlegable. I don't know alot about my baby Shelby, but buy books and I am on here every day reading about the different problems, concerns or just reading the different personalities that our babies have. I have become ADDICTED to this site. Again, I am sorry for being rude to you, but it's a sore spot with me when one tries to assume the character of another. Ok, I feel better now, hope you have a good day. By the way, can I ask you a question? Shelby just started eating her poo, what can I do to stop that or is she sick?

Water under the bridge...I too am guilty of losing my cool from time to time.

She could be eating it because there is something lacking in her diet. Is she on a quality food?
You may want to try feeding her a bit of fresh pineapple. Something about feeding it to them makes the poo very unappealing. (Plus, it's a yummy, healthy treat for them. )
Try to remove any poopies from the yard/house ASAP and try to watch her and correct her as soon as she shows interest in it. Be persistant and patient.

In the words of my Vet, you know why they do it? Because they like it. I usually have this problem with my females.

But, if you study canine behavior.....it's very natural, most do it because they want to keep their den clean, keeping the scent away from preditors, especially females, as we all know diaper their babies.

Another thing you might try is a bit of Accent on their food, it renders the waste distasteful, and picking it up as soon as they go.

So she first needs to be a little more responible about knowing when and where her dogs are being bringing more into the world.
I noticed that in the very beginning of this thread that the timing was off but let that go because I just could not wrap my brain around all of the other issues.

Also, to you and anyone else that feels that my friend is irresponsible. Let me say this, she resued her female yorkie and was told that her baby was told that she was "fixed"--well, apparently not. So, fast forward-- four girls pups. She is only trying to seek knowledge and I was ONLY trying to help her out. She's not a breeder, she's not trying to be a breeder; she's only trying to seek answers to some questions that she has--and I was trying to help her by asking people on this end. THAT'S IT, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS...

Also, you need to take notes from Mardelin and just simply make suggestions and offer advice. Not pass judgment on a person character.
I personally would like to know the name of the rescue that she adopted this UNSPAYED female from? It is irresponsible for a rescue to rehome any dog without it being spayed/neutered AND to allow any rescue into a home that has an unaltered male living in it. Legitimate rescues take what they do very seriously and would be APPALLED that your friend is now breeding a dog that was thought to be altered. Like I said in my original post, she needs to spay and neuter both of these dogs. There are clinic that will do it for a low cost. Better yet she should return the female to the rescue so that it can be spay and given a home that would not allow this type of care to be given to their animal.

As for the dog having 4 more female pups that make me sick to think what they will be doing in about a year. This is totally irresponsible pet ownership. If this dog is from a rescue as you say, she is not even AKC registered, nothing is known about the background of this dog and she is breeding her AGAIN. Once is an oops~twice is wrong and yes adding to the problem of 10,000,000 PTS each year. After reading all of your update on your "friend" I hope you are on line with her right now and make her aware of all of the controversy that has arisen from your original post. Maybe she will then return that female to the rescue that she originally came from . Better yet, have her turn her over to a good rescue and allow then to find her a wonderful home that will treat her as a PET and not a breeding machine.

OMG, thanks Misty. But the problem is. While I'm at work, she's at home gated off in her room (she has her crate, toys, blankets, and her bed that she like to eat on (alone with you poop pads). So, she does it on the pad and by the time that I get home, ITS GONE! But, I will go to the store TODAY and get the pineapples. What do you think about Doggy Daycare Centers. I was looking into putting her in one while I'm at work, but I'm not sure. If you would, please go to this website: Au Pair des Chiens | New Orleans Dog Nanny and tell me what you think. THANKS
