| I would be heading for the vet! That is usually not a good sign if they cant present a puppy after one hour. Its quite possible she will need a c-section or the puppy is not aligned correctly and needs to be re-positioned to be sucessfully delivered. Please talk to a vet now!!

Oh get to the vet soonest... no time to waste.. you do not want to lose your momma.. one hour is the going time and then go to vet... two hours of pushing hard.. something is not right..\ I just had a puppy that came down one horn and up the other ... c section needed.. if the first one was like this.. you would lose the litter.. so this is important to go now.. anne

Do you mean hard contractions? Has her water broke? Do you see a bubble yet trying to come out? My girls never push for that long before having one. You can feel between her vulva and her anus and check if it's swollen. If it feels like a ball there, then there's a pup in the birth canal. I'm not getting a good picture of your situation. It's not normal for a girl to be in hard labor for 2 hours with no pup. Maybe you should at least call the ER vet and describe your situation. Sounds like you may need to bring her in.

If you go to the vet, make sure someone is with you so you can monitor her on the way. If she starts to deliver on the ride, it could be very dangerous if you're not aware of it. We had pups Tuesday night and the first one came out feet first with no sac. She relaxed and the baby went back up. Luckily she contracted again before we left as the baby presented its feet again and this time, with another contraction, we were able to pull the baby out (alive). We were just about to leave on our way out to the ER when this happened. If this had happened in the car, it could have been bad. If you go, have someone with you and take supplies, including a good flashlight, just in case.

With her water broke, the babies should be on the move now. You should see something very soon. It will take a few hard contractions before a baby gets to the birth canal. Watch for the swelling between her anus and vulva also be on the lookout for a sac. You may see a water sac appear outside for a bit before a baby gets presented. Is this her first litter?

Congrats. You'll see her relax and she'll let you know when it's over. You may feel a knotty spot in her but that's usually just her uterus. Feel around and see if you can find a really firm lump. That may be a baby. I don't relax about it until I see the mom wind down for a good while. I have been surprised with a tardy one once. Generally, with the last one you'll see a 'cap' come out with the sac that has a blackish, green fluid with it.
